If it isnt some religion trying to change my ways its someone trying to tell me something, and today it was a roof...I know times are tough, but there is nothing more awkward than lying to the two large men at your door telling you that you need a new roof....
Im just going to ignore the doorbell from now on.

I do this....and we have a puggle. haha
Ughhh I hate this as well. We get so many people that come to our door. Saturdays are usually the worst, if it's not people trying to hand out religious pamphlets then its various sales people or kids who are fundraising. Unless you are selling some type of cookie, cake, or something else edible... sorry not interested!
Kind of related, we had a Kirby salesperson come to our door the other day. I answered it, because I was expecing the neighbor girl to drop off the cookie dough I ordered for her fundraiser. Anyway, when I told the Kirby person I had a Dyson that I really loved, she replied with "Don't tell my boss this, but I think Dyson's are better than Kirbys!"
Ummm....that's not how you sell your product, lady.
That's me. Even if they can see me if I don't know them and/or not expecting them I don't answer. I let the dog bark her fool head off too.

Feeling very lucky to live on a tiny, dead end street. There are only 5 houses on my block. Nobody bothers with us unless they know us!
That is very annoying! I am glad I live in an secure apartment building where annoying people like that cannot bother me.
I used to ignore the doorbell at all costs, but lately there have been a rash of burglaries in our quiet neighborhood. A lady rings the doorbell and if nobody answers a man kicks in the front door. SO SCARY!! It actually happened to a friend of mine who lives on the opposite side of the city. She's 7 months pregnant with twins and had just laid down for a nap. Her doorbell rang and she ignored it while her dog went ballistic. Two minutes later her door was kicked in and people were in her house. Thankfully they fled when they saw her, but terrifying!! I never open the door anymore, but yell through the door that I'm not interested in anything they're selling. I want to buy this sign to hang by the front door:

At my apartment we get people trying to sell us cheap electricity rates (wtf) and the religious folks. Luckily, dh is Jewish and usually telling them I'm Jewish too is enough. Don't try to sell me Jesus folks...I am a grown woman and my beliefs are what they are.
Around here, the delivery guys like to ding dong ditch. By the time the doorbell finishes chiming, the guy is almost back to his truck and your package is just sitting at the door.
Nde99- this is exactly why I kept aluminum baseball bats around my old apartment!
