*This may be weird*

Has you acupuncturist ever given you these cigar like sticks that you are supposed to light and they burn like incense and you are supposed to circle it around your belly? Just curious, my acupuncturist gave me 2 and told me I should do this. So, I did, and it stinks and the scent just sticks to you, plus it's too cold to do it outside so I tried to do it inside next to my back door and leave it open; yeah, now my hose smells. I'm sure my neighbors think I'm getting high or somethings, and my poor dog ran down into the basement, LOL.

I did accupuncture for our IVF cycle, but never had anything like that. I did have a friend who used to secretly smoke in her bathroom and ran a hot shower with the bathroom fan on. Surprisingly, it didn't stink like cigarettes when she came out. If you have to do it, maybe that's an option? I personally don't see how the benefit outweighs the cons, but I'm very skeptical when it comes to that kind of thing. Good luck, I hope it works!

I'm skeptical too, but I figured it can't really hurt anything. It just stinks pretty bad. I need to go google these things, lol.

I did acupuncture and have had moxi done, but personally I was never given sticks to use at home. A good friend of mine was, though and she said it stunk too bad and stopped, lol.

My acupuncturist has done moxibustion on me while he does acu. He said it smells like burning trash, but to me it smells like burning leaves. He never gave me anything to take home and do it myself. There are several methods and whatever the 1st one he used was left a tiny scar on my stomach because it got too hot. Indifferent

The most recent form he used was a spray he rubbed on my stomach and then put the heat lamp on so it would help it to soak in or something of that nature. I can't remember why he said he was doing it though. I'm just glad I could go home afterwards to shower and wash my clothes! I hope you figure out something that works.

i know when i go in my acu's office it smells like marijuana and i found out it's that moxa/moxi stuff. I'm guessing that's what it is?

i am seeing a new acu tonight who specializes with fertility (my previous one i only saw for a few weeks because when i discussed the ivf with him, his response was "woohoo! bring on the multiples!". what an ass. ) if i get a chance i'll ask this new girl.

It does stink, but it's that kind of stink that I'm not sure if I can handle or not. I'll have to give it a few more tries. I had to look at the sticks again to see what they were called. After doing some googling, I've figured out what it is and why it's used. My Acu works with a lot of IF/IVF patients. He mentioned to me that he had these sticks, gave me instructions on how to use them, and I took them home. He said he doesn't use them in the office anymore because of the smell. He works in an office that also does chiropractic care, PT, and massage.

I can't wait to see MH's face when he walks in the door, lol!

Mine uses Moxa sticks too. I am pretty skeptical but figure it can't hurt, so why not? I have never been given them to take home though. All I know is I get charged 30 just for some girl to wave a stick around my body for about 2 minutes. So I guess you are lucky that they are at least letting you keep the 5 stick! These bad smelling sticks that could burn our skin better be doing whatever it is they are supposed to do!

This is exactly what my ND told me. She said that there were lots of other things she could do that wouldn't offend our senses.

We were going to do it once, awhile ago, but I had to go to work afterwards and she said it could smell a bit like pot! So I took a pass!

I was given a moxa stick early on to help with my spotting. I had to hold it over a point near my big toe nail. It didn't seem to work. I was also given a moxa stick a few months ago to hold over my belly button but I have to admit it is still in the drawer

Can I ask where you were asked to hold it and what time of the month?

I'm doing a FET in 2 weeks. I'm supposed to circle it around my belly button for aprox. 5 min. each day.
