8 week dr apt... Confused?

This is my second pregnancy and I'm 8 weeks. I have already had an ultra sound at 6 weeks cause of a previous ectopic. Everything was fine we saw a heart beat and was measuring at the right week. Then yesterday I go for my apt and had been spotting all morning. Once he did the pap on me I started bleeding instantly so much it was running down my leg!!! The dr said he wasn't that concerned and he didn't even try to listen for a heartbeat!!! He just had me go home and call if it worsens. Is this right they don't listed for a heart beat till later? I cant remember from the last pregnancy. I'm just freaked out and the blood has me all worried!!!

My OB tried at 8 weeks because I am a very tiny woman but we didn't hear anything until my next appointment at 12 weeks.

I believe my office tries starting from 10 weeks. It seems like since you were there he could of done an ultrasound to confirm everything was good and ease your mind. That would make me nervous too, but he obviously irritated your cervix during your exam so I'm sure he didn't feel that something else was going on.

8 weeks is too early to find a heartbeat with a doppler.

Mind doesn't try to listen for it until 12 weeks or so.

Has the bleeding stopped?

Same story as far as ultrasound strong heartbeat at 6weels. We go back next week. Try not to worry. There isn't much you can do but take care of yourself stay positive. Best wishes momma!

you can't hear the hb at 8 wks. I don't blame you on the blood thing but you're increasing your blood volume so vessels are enlarging and more prone to popping. I got spotting around that time with DS. The trauma of a pap smear could easily cause it.
