Wackiest Parenting Myths (LIP)

This was on one of those AOL news story things... (I'm a sucker for reading those). It's quite comical to read all of the old myths that parents actually believed back in the day... makes me wonder what myths we are following right now haha

Although, I must confess, I still thought number 9 was true Embarrassed

Re: Wackiest Parenting Myths (LIP)

  • My Mom had all sorts of gems when I was pregnant and when DS was younger. It was amazing some of the stuff people used to believe and still do!

  • Seriously. I can't wait for DD to have kids and tell me everything I did was wrong.

Can you imagine a baby smeared in lard? Yuck.

  • What a funny read!!  I really laughed/cringed at the one about showing no affection.  Greet the baby in the morning with a handshake.  Can you imagine?

My MIL still thinks that rubbing whiskey and honey on the gums is the way to go for teething.  Although there are some times that I'd LOVE to try anything, I would never ever do that!  A couple of years back, she got tipsy at a gathering of ours.  She was holding a toddler, who kept putting his spoon in her wine glass then in his mouth.  She thought it was hilarious, and kept on egging him on.  The Mom kept on politely trying to take the baby away, but MIL was like "He likes it!"  I think that she knows better than to try that with me.

Lol, DH has taught R "handshake" instead of high five. It's quite cute actually, especially when he shakes hands with the old men at church!

I thought number 9 was true too...
