Is anyone going to any birthing, BFing, or child care classes again if you've done them with a previous pregnancy? I was all about it last time and looking back at everything in the delivery room to BFing, they were totally worthless. BFing went terribly for me last time b/c I was so uneducated, BUT felt like I knew all I needed to know after the classes, KWIM?
Anyway, my insurance doesn't require me to do it, so we will not be taking any classes this time.
Whew
Re: Classes the second time around
I didn't do them the second time around, either. They were pretty much worthless the first time, considering my DH had no idea when he was supposed to help me with the breathing exercises (he thought that was for pushing - HA!). With the internet and sites like Baby Center and even birth videos on youtube, you can get what you'd get out a class yourself. And having been through it and (kind of ) knowing what to expect make a huge difference.
My biggest gripe was that they used to do the relaxation exercises in a totally quiet room. Neither time I was in labor was my room ever quiet. It's a hospital, there's always something beeping or someone down the hall making noise.
We won't. I didn't find out prenatal classes very helpful to me, between the books I had read, and the bump. BUT, it was beneficial to DH. But there is no reason to do it again.
I will read a few books on breastfeeding however. It didn't go well last time, and even though I've talked about it several times with my Dr, and she assures me I did all I could, I want to be more informed this time.
