My DD started getting rashes on her face when she was 12 months old. It will go away and come back, but it mostly pops up when she eats. We never noticed any reactions to solids before. She is still BF and occasionally drinks lactose free milk. She use to be a little sensitive to the milk protein so I use to be dairy free. Now she is fine with me having a little bit of dairy and her having lactose free milk. We have both gone completely dairy free again and that doesn't seem to make a difference.
If it is a dry food that doesn't touch her face it is fine, but anything that touches her face and sticks at all, especially sticky or gooey foods, will make her break out with an eczema reaction. She has always had sensitive skin and reacts like this if someone wearing perfume kisses her or if you use the wrong soap or lotion on her. I have sensitive skin too so I at first thought this was just an eczema issue, but now i'm wondering if it might be a wheat allergy or something similar. She doesn't have diarrhea or any rash on her bottom....
She has another Ped. apt. soon and I will discuss this with the Dr., but I was wondering if anyone has experienced this or had ideas.
TIA!
Re: rash on face after eating ANY food
the only thing i can think of is starting a food journal. Writing down everything she eats and her reaction. Check the ingredients and write down the common ones.
Maybe it's a spice? I recently met someone with a salt allergy.
are you kissing her in that spot? maybe it's the lipstick (some lipsticks have sesame in it)
Personally i think if you start a food journal, you'll soon find the link to what may be causing it.
good luck!
Thanks for the reply. Never heard of being allergic to a spice before! Will keep an eye on that.
unfortunately, you can be allergic to absolutely anything. Obviously there are things that are rare and there are things that are common. Spices are actually not that rare.
good luck!
