Success after IF

Off to the ENT

Well, we dodged the bullet at the cardiologist but not the pediatrician. Boo has not gotten rid of the latest set of ear infections, so we will have to see an ENT. I am actually glad because I am tired of her being sick all the time. She has been sick since Thanksgiving with only a couple days here or there of feeling well. He told me that ear infections can cause hearing loss and speech delays, so he wants to get her in sooner than later. Apparently, he is treating a 3 yo who lost most of his hearing due to ear infections that weren't sent to a specialist. So, this is a good thing in my book and much better than if her heart was messed up!

Re: Off to the ENT

  • Definitely a better situation than heart problems! My friend's little boy had lots I recurrent ear infections, and hearing issues and speech delays bc of it. He got tubes on his ears and hasn't had an ear infection since. GL at the ENT!

  • DD got tubes the day before she turned 6 months old due to way too many ear infections in her first 6 months of life. She's been SO much healthier since she got them, and it was an easy procedure. Good luck at the ENT!

  • DD got tubes in November and it was a game changer. She did have chronic ear infections and some hearing loss. Best thing we've done as parents. She hasn't had one ear infection since, which means I haven't missed work!

  • I should clarify that we aren't going until next week. However, I'm really encouraged to hear that ear tubes have helped. I HATE that she is constantly sick. I was watching her a few minutes ago and she looks so sad at dc.

  • Good luck!  Both of my girls have tubes.  Best decision ever.  Tubes are quick, it literally takes our ENT 6 minutes to put them in.  Both of them have been infection free since.  They were both less fussy almost immediately and they started eating better (I think because they felt better).

  • I hope your LO's appt went well today and she is feeling better soon. Based on what I've heard, having tubes put in can definitely make a world of difference if that is what the ENT suggests.
