Multiples

Hi. I'm new here.

We just found out we're having twins. We also have a high needs toddler, who drives me crazy most days and is turning 2 next month. I'm currently a SAHM.

And I'm both excited and scared out of my mind.

  • Welcome! DS will be about two and a half when the twins get here, and I am also a SAHM. I would say both excited and scared out of my mind describe it perfectly for me too. :)

Sorry for being a stalker but twin u/s really interest me.  I checked your blog and the picture looks like they are monochorionic which means one share placenta, so they are identical. Did they see a dividing membrane between them? My twins were mono/di. We could see a very thin whispy membrane between them at 10 weeks. I would definitely push to get the twin type determined ASAP as mono twins are at risk for special complications and need special monitoring. Lots of luck for a healthy pregnancy. It's definitely a wild ride!

  • Congrats!! I'm 11weeks2days with di/di twins. So fun and scary at the same time. This is my first pregnancy. :)

Feel free to stalk. I love when people actually check out my blog. Big Smile

I was in total shock mode at the u/s, but I called back after and was told that they couldn't tell from the pics, the tech had already left (she goes to several locations), and hadn't done her report yet. My next appt is on Feb 19th, so I'll be 15 weeks. I plan to ask them to find out if it's not in my chart already.

Yes, I know that shock feeling!  My OB was able to tell us at our first u/s (10 wks) that it looked like there was one placenta. I couldn't figure out how on earth she could see that but once I did some research it's actually pretty easy to tell the difference between mono/di and di/di twins in the first trimester.  That's why it drives me crazy that moms aren't told or told it's too soon to see.  It's just something near and dear to my heart since my twins had serious complications due to their shared placenta so I know how important it is to be monitored closely. I hope you can get some more answers at your next appointment!

  • Congratulations! I'm  a SAHM also who is expecting twins here in the next 7-10 weeks. I have a 2 yr old, a 7 yr old and an 8 yr old. Aaaaaaaah! LOL I will be putting the older two to work for sure. Wink

  • CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

WHen we found out we were expecting twins we were both in complete shock.  We didn't even tell anyone for 7 weeks about the twins.  Honestly I was terriffed through my whole pregnancy, worried about taking more time away from my DS then what I had already thought he would be missing out on, i worried about if we could handle it, money, money, money, if I would lose my mind, I worried about pushy mother in law ( i just told her when I need her help I will call ), We only had one more bedroom and we had just moved the year before, oh and did I mention money?.

ALl things aside once they arrived it was a piece of cake, right from delivery. They came naturally and came was easier then my first.  THey are a joy to have and I make time for my DS every day.  I bought enough diapers (before being off of work) for a year, plus  stocked up on enough formula for the first 3 months.  Both are things that you can return if unopened if they are not to your babies liking.

Plan as much ahead as you can is all I can say. Being scared is completely normal, and so is being excited.  Congratulations and enjoy your pregnancy.
