Hello all! I am pregnant with twin boys and I am starting to research daycare/preschools that I can put the boys in when I have to go back to work. A coworker of mine highly recommends the Goddard School in Norwood, but even though it looks like a good place, I am concerned that it doesn't seem to have much diversity in the kids that go there-- I watched their promotional video and I don't want my sons to be the only black kids in the whole school-- anybody know more about Goddard or another place, preferably Bergen county?
Re: Diversity and Daycare?
Hi!
My husband and I live in Mercer County, and we decided on the Goddard School. We found them to be very diverse. I highly recommend you go for a tour and see for yourself. I think you will be very impressed. Again, I am in Mercer Co.
I should also add that we found the Goddard to be very pricey. We looked at about 6 different schools, and I talked to many more on the phone. In my opinion there was no comparison, and it truly is a "you get what you pay for".
Good luck! I know this is not easy!!
My son started out at Bell's Little Learners in Westwood. It had a nice amount of diversity. The teachers were great! He went there from 6 months to 1 year and half! The teachers (and I) even cried on our son's last day.
He is now with The Learning Experience in Hackensack. Much more diverse than Bell's(but there are also more kids). So far we really like this place as well. It is a lot bigger but the care so far has been really good.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Here We Go Again!!
So, I wrote this whole post and I just erased it by accident. In general I was saying they Norwood doesn't have a lot of diversity to begin with, (i grew up there) but I do recommend you check out the school, to see if it for yourself.
How far are you looking?
Rissa06---we live in Closter and I work in Englewood Cliffs so I don't mind as far down as Edgewater and as far North as Norwood, Rockleigh---basically a 10 mile radius from work....
let me txt a friend of mine who still lives in the area. All the places I was thinking of aren't a daycare. For example, my parents sent my brothers to lindgren and they had an awesome experience, but they aren't a daycare.
There is a Montessori school in tenafly and I would look in Paramus, Westwood, Hackensack, Teaneck for more diversity.
just one thought, which is what we are facing now, my daughter goes to a preschool/ daycare program in the next town and had forged relationships and stuff and now she is getting ready to go to kindergarten and is having a tough time, because she is in a different town/ school district then most of her friends. If you guys are planning on staying in closter, it's a great way to start networks within the community. It was something we never thought of and some of my mom friends said the same thing.
