This is exactly what I expect. Well DS is older than her child--he'll be going on 3 when LO2 is born--but he will be very jealous because we are EVERYTHING to him. Especially me, and I will be the one spending the most time with LO2 with BFing and all. However, I think a huge reason we are having another LO is for DS in the first place! We know that siblings bring so much joy and we want DS to have that experience.

Thats for sure! It is hard, they are jealous and transitions are tough, but eventually as baby gets older and more interactive, they get so cute together (though you'll have cute moments in the beginning too, briefly). They really become playmates. It's an up and down relationship, but at the end of the day when they are n the couch cuddling and winding down before bed, there is nothing more precious. This evening I sat on the couch, feeling like crap and just listening to the sound of infectious giggles coming from the playroom. I love it! This will be baby #4.
Mom of 5 Boy 7-11-2007 (has Autism), Boy 2-26-2009 to 11-2-11 (had cancer at 4mo), Boy 3-28-2011 (has Autism) Girl 9-3-2013 Baby due 2-22-2016
This has been my biggest fear so far. I knew I wanted DS to have a sibling, but I am a little scared of how it will go when we bring this one home. I know it's going to be a huge adjustment and I can already see that many tears will be shed (by me).
Re: 2nd (or more) time moms
Wow, great article. Also a little freaked out- a bit of a reality check... hadn't thought about this yet. Thanks for sharing.
