Baby in parent's room

DH and I are staying in our 2 bedroom apartment another year and baby is due in September. Bedroom #1 is a dedicated music studio where DH teaches so we can't repurpose that room.

Our bedroom is large and we plan to shift our items to one side and give the baby a dedicated area taking up about 1/3 of the room. Has anyone else done this and still made that part of the room feel like it is a baby area through decorating, etc?

  • Yes and no.   We will share our room and luckily our master is huge.  Another bedroom is 21 mo-old DS's room/guest room.  No area of our home screams "baby/nursery."  We plan to move withing the next year.  Honestly, all of that decor is more for mom and dad anyway.  Babies don't need it and they don't know any different.

  • We share a room with our LO- it is the upper part of a bungalow. I love how it turned out- I just made sure everything we decorated with was something I can live with. The general "theme" between our side and the baby side is bold black and white patterns. We used Marimekko fabrics. The furniture is a mix of vintage and modern. Just be sure you use the furniture to create separate spaces but have unifying elements, if that makes sense.
