Help

This is a post and run but I will be back to check responses.

My husband just texted me after picking up LO at daycare and told me that she hasn't eaten anything since before noon!! WTF? Daycare said she had a good day and wasn't fussy. Why would she be eating so little? She has never done this before. Thoughts?

 Thanks.

Re: Help

  • Was food offered and she refused it or it wasn't offered?

  • Are you BFing? If so maybe she is reverse cycling.

I am sure they offered it and she refused.

  • I wouldn't worry too much then.  Babies know when they are hungry.  She'll likely catch up tomorrow.

  • To answer a couple of the questions, she missed one entire feeding and she already had one tooth pop through. Maybe she is working on a second.

Of course my DH didn't ask daycare about this missed feeding so I will ask them about it when I drop her off tomorrow.

I also just checked if she has a fever and she is fine. She also just ate 6 oz and is now asleep. It was probably just a fluke.

  • DD hasn't done this, because apparently eating is her favorite, but I've had friends say their kids lost their appetites randomly--sometimes right before gaining a new skill, like rolling over or crawling, etc.  As long as it doesn't persist, I wouldn't worry about it.

  • DS did this when he had bad post nasal drip. His throat hurt and drinking irritated it.

  • Sometimes Leo has one less bottle at daycare. I feed on demand so if he is sleepy that day, he will skip a bottle. It never seems to make a difference in his night sleeping. I wouldn't worry about it tonight and just ask them about it tomorrow.
