I think you have something in Canada called BOBs? And it's like a TOM? My friend had them when she came to visit last year.
My opinion on TOMS:
I like them but I'm cheap and they are expensive. I want to get a gilttery pair but I'm having a hard time justifying the cost. I have a pair of Faux-TOMS that I got from Payless. I like those.
Never heard of them. Or BOBs.
I don't think they're ugly, but they definitely look more casual than dressy to me. And not a winter-type of shoes as far as I can tell. Are they supposed to be like Birkenstocks were back in the day? Like super good for your feet and all?

They're natural shoes. They also give a pair to needy children for every pair that we purchase. Is a pair for a pair campaign.
So, like a Birk, but not like a Birk. If you catch my drift.
Technically you're dropping $50 for two pairs, since they give one pair to a needy child for every pair that's purchased. But yeah, I can't justify a $50 purchase at all right now, so I get not wanting to spend it.
I like them. I have an off-brand pair that I wear a lot and hope to get a new pair soon. I think they're a trend that will soon die but they are a good, casual everyday shoe for me!

I have high arches and wear a size 9, so any kind of flat tends to be uncomfortable and horribly unflattering. When I lived in Seattle for college people went nuts for these things. I never understood it, because they don't seem very weatherproof.
I've seen these for kids but according to reviews the canvas wears out really fast; holes in the toes within weeks, that kind of thing.
For the sociopolitical statement, sure I guess I get the appeal - but what good are fair business practices and a humanitarian mission if the shoe isn't durable/practical? I mean shoot, I can get a more solidly constructed pair of cloth slip ons for $3 in Chinatown.

We can get TOMS and I think BOBS are just a cheaper knock-off without the 2 for 1 deal. Didn't TOMS come out of the UK or am I making that up? When my sis was in England last year she almost bought DD a pair of baby ones, but again, they were pricey.
SO bought me a pair of BOBS, but they are definitely more spring/summer/early fall shoes, not to be worn with socks. Capri's only as far as I'm concerned. I'm too cheap to buy the real ones just because of the trend.

I have a pair and I love them! They are the gray flannel ones. I plan on getting a fun cotton color for spring. Comfy and easy to slip on
SAMESIES!!!!!
I have them and a pair of red ones with little white polka dots. They are awful on ice, have no arch support and are ugly but I love mine because they are light weight, great for slipping on and off and are comfy.

I think they're cute. They are comfy and easy. But they do fall apart kind of quickly. I think they last roughly 4 to 6 months, then get a hole.
