Washington Babies

high risk pregnancy

My name is Leah I am 14 weeks with my second pregnancy. My first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage at 20 weeks 4 years ago so I am pretty much on pins and needles. Two days ago I had a cervical cerclage placed to lock this baby. The procedure went well and I will be on bed rest for the next week. I was just getting excited about my pregnancy but now my nerves are back. My boyfriend is very excited and supportive. he even signed me up for this site. I feel bad sometimes because I am so happy and excited to be pregnant but my worrying and nervousness over shadows it. but seeing my baby every two weeks in ultrasounda and my boyfriend give me hope and strength. I will be closely monitored by my doctors and so will my little one.

  • I know exactly what you are going through.  We lost our little girl at 18.5 wks and I was completely devastated.  As a result, I don't think I fully bonded with our new LO until the week after she was born.  I just couldn't believe that she was actually here, and that my body hadn't failed me this time.  It's ok, and it's normal not to bond right away...even with a "normal" pregnancy.  Be gentle with yourself, and do what you need to do in order to get through each day.
  • I have a high risk pregnancy also and I know exactly how you feel.  Even though I am 17 weeks I have only told a few close friends and family.  I am super excited but part of me is so worried that I might lose her/him.  I pray for the both of us and other mommies going through the same worries.
  • Thank You Ladies!

  • Oh wow!! My thoughts are with you and I'm sending positive energy your way that you guys will make it though this time.  I just learned that after your first miscarriage you chances of a second one are down to 2.3% So that should give you and your boyfriend comfort!! Congrats :)

  • How are you doing now Leah?
  • I am 19.5 wks pregnant now and doing very well. I see my OB and  Perinatologist every other week to monitor my cervix and baby. Every visit they say my cervix is great, stitch is strong, and baby is active. Back at work now no complaints just a little tired....oh yeah We just found out we are having a little GIRL! Super excited and nervous.
