Infertility

ILs are coming...

So, my ILs are coming tomorrow and staying until sunday. I should start stims on friday but I'll be ok with that. My MIL just called to discuss how we do tomorrow when they arrive and I'm in class and then... she suggested that on sunday morning before they leave we go and visit this stepcousin of DH that had a baby 5 DAYS AGO! She wants to give her a little T-Shirt that she had bought some time ago... When she started talking about it I felt my lungs collapsing, felt like throwing up and I swear I felt my ute hurt. How do I get out of this?!?!? They don't know about our struggles and I'm not sure I feel comfortable telling them about it... WTF?! The woman just gave birth! I would never want distant family popping in for a visit on my first week! I was telling her this when she said she had talked to her and she would LOVE to have us over. I can handle baby nieces and nephews but I don't think I can keep my cool in this situation... I'm terrified of making a scene, either before or during it...

  • Crap. That's tough. I think I hear an unexpected stomach bug coming on.  Something ugly that you don't want to chance bringing around the baby.

Ya know, that flu that is going around is a SOB!  Just comes on so quick and hits ya hard.  It is probably best for you to just stay home and rest and not even be in the same house as new born baby!!! :)  GL!

I agree with this. A little white lie doesn't hurt anyone if it will keep you sane and keep you from breaking down. And stepcousin on your DH's side - yeah, not obligated to go! I hope stimming goes well for you!

  • I think it will be something more in the line of light food poisoning or it could be the start of a noro virus infection. All I have to do is run to the toilet at regular times. Faking the flu is a bit more tricky with my MIL, she can spot me lying miles away...

Like someone had posted not long ago. It's indecent we have to lead a double life in our own home to have some privacy! I'm also fearing all the baby talk, my MIL can be really annoying sometimes...

Good luck! Just be careful, running to the toilet at regular times might make her think you're pregnant with morning sickness. I'd hate for her to start thinking you're pregnant and opening up a whole new bag of worms with that. Not sure how she is, but I can see my MIL whipsering to other family members that she thought I was pregnant. Just consider that in the equation if she's like that. Maybe a fever and other non-morning-sickness-related symptoms are in order too. ;-)
