Going to the Gym

I do not have a problem taking them into most stores, because I can still carry them a short distance (23 lbs each!) and then I have the cart to help me when I come out. Currently I only take them to places where I know we can have a two seat cart.

The hard part is the gym. If I go with DH we can each hold one or even each walk with one, but they are not good enough at holding my hand yet to really walk with two (plus I have their bag and my bag). I don't want to bring in a double stroller because it's really not that far (and a big hassle) and I tried carrying one and putting the other in a small umbrella stroller but it was impossible to maneuver the stroller while holding one and all of our stuff.

I tried walking them in with those "leashes" today but they don't get the concept and just run in opposite directions and fall down. They have to be holding your hands or held right now.

But it's so hard to get one in the car while holding the other one! Does anyone have tips or tricks for this?

Re: Going to the Gym

  • I definitely used the double stroller to go in and out of the gym (unless DH was with me) until they did a good job both holding my hands through the parking lot ... and not trying to dash off while I was getting brother in/out of the car). For my boys that wasn't until they were 2.5 but I think that's a little later than most. One of them had gross motor delays and sensory issues that were a factor while the other was a runner. It was a little bit of a hassle to deal with the double stroller but for me I felt it was better than the alternative. I've seen a number of other moms at my gym use a stroller, too. It may have helped that we had the City Mini, which was super quick to fold and unfold. When I had my DuoGlider with me it felt like more of a hassle to use the stroller.

  • I haven't used a carrier in a long time, but could you try that? Or have one in an umbrella stroller and have the other one walk behind the stroller and "help" you push it?
