Are you EPing and bottle feeding, or giving formula?
If you've been pumping, I'd say it's always worth a try - put baby to breast and see what happens! And maybe find a lactation consultant to talk to if you're really interested.
Definitely call a LC. Also, IMO and my experience is start with a nipple shield. I used one with LO for her first 2 months. I tried at 6 weeks w/o it and she was able to latch but it was still a little bit of a struggle. Then again at 8 weeks and she really did a great job. So for the past week and half she's been BF like a champ with no nipple shield. I know 3 other women, one a very close friend and 2 from my breast feeding support group that have very similar success stories like mine w/ nipple shield. The LC that runs the support group says there is nothing wrong with resorting to a nipple shield once you've gave it a good effort to latch without it. She called it, "breastfeeding training wheels"!
