A teacher at dc inadvertently calls my dd by another girl's name now and again. I teach school and this happens to me. I'm not bothered by it. Apparently, the mom of the other girl went crazy, screaming, yelling, went to the director when she heard the teacher use her dd's name with my dd. Do you think she went overboard? The director talked to me today and couldn't believe I wasn't upset. This teacher is really good with DD. Not sure I care that she messes up her name now and again!
Yes, I think the other mom went overboard. It happens.
My only concern would be if the teacher did it all the time and screwed up daily sheets, diapers, ointment and the like, even then it wouldn't be an issue for the Director, it would be a casual chat with the teacher.

Hell, I called DS by my DHs last name just last night!! It happens. That woman needs to chill. Especially as the teacher was calling YOUR child by the wrong name! not her child!

Um I occasionally mix up DD and DS's names. Or call DD my sister's name. It can be easy to mix up names. Unless the teacher is always using the wrong name or seems to not be able to tell the two girls apart I don't think it's a big deal at all. Good for you for not making a big deal about it. And the other mom should be embarrassed.

This. We all do this from time to time, and being in a room of toddlers is bound to make people a little distracted. As long as she's not actually confusing their care, I don't think it makes a difference at all. I think that mom needs to calm down.
And to clarify, she isn't either of our DD's lead teacher, so she doesn't feed her or diaper change her often. She knows my DD's name. When she says the other girls name, she always corrects it. She's never fed her the wrong bottle or anything like that!

Yeah, then the other lady is BSC. I can only imagine how she will react the first time her kid gets bit or has an accident at DC.

DH called me by DD's name once when he was annoyed w/ me. (it was an accident, but he clearly thought I was doing somethign I shouldn't have been - not sure who was more embarrassed).
Seeing as I call my own kids by the wrong names sometimes, yes, I think the other mom way overreacted. How ridiculous.
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
Dude, that mother is BSC. My grandmother, when trying to talk to my dad or one of my uncles would just get so flustered and end up saying "PaulDaveMike!" My MIL does the same with her three boys. If mothers do it, it's insane to think this doesn't happen to everyone.

This. I'm a teacher. It's our 92nd day of school...or something like that. I STILL get a few kids' names mixed up quite frequently if I'm thinking on the fly.
I'd just be concerned if she's getting details about their daily doings mixed up.
Shiit, I sometimes call DS by our dog's name. I've definitely mixed up some of my student's names many times because I was thinking of the other student when I was looking at the other one. I've had students call me by the P.E. teacher's name and she's blond, blue-eyed and I'm Asian. It happens. That lady must have the worst blood pressure to let something as little as that bother her to that extent.
In our DC, the teacher called a child by the wrong name when talking to the mom and she also threw a fit and withdrew her child based on the one incident. Eh-she called it a racial thing bc the teacher used the incorrect name of another LO of same race and gender. She told the director she will re-enroll her LO when he's ready for the next classroom. There were some staff changes and the teacher was moved to the next classroom several months later.
I have also called my LO's by the wrong name including using the dogs name. My kids have corrected me but they certainly do not get upset. Why would I get upset? Geez, other mom.

I agree with this. I'm a high school teacher and have about 150 students, plus a soccer team of 21 girls. I mix up names all.the.time. It happens, it's not the end of the world.

"(she) went crazy, screaming, yelling"
yeah, overboard. I'll bet that mom goes overboard on plenty of people.

This- I also did the same thing when I taught an after school program, Jimmy, Timmy, Jane.... I mean Kelly, come over here please!
Wow, the lady over reacted.
