Home study cleaning question

So, our last home study meeting is on Thursday at 4PM(right when I get home from work).  My husband travels for work here and there and of course had to leave this morning and will get back tomorrow evening.  I am in my student teaching for my masters program right now and have to do about 70 pages a week in lesson plans!  When I get home from work it is all I have time for...that and a shower/dinner ect.  I have even had to give up the gym :( 

It has been raining here for days and we have 3 pets so we are waiting until tomorrow night(night before) to vacuum up the pet hair and wash the floors.  I just want to know what else needs to be really clean.  I mean I plan to have it clean, but is the SW going to open closets and looking in the pantry/drawers, or just she just take a basic look around and not really touch anything?

7/18/12-1st RE appointment CD2 blood work taken. Told to move straight to IVF. Starting BC pills and FSH injections plus Lupron. Hopefully doing ET in September Off BCP March 2011 Started TTC July 2011 7 months TTC with no luck an then.... Diagnosed 2/24/12 with 2 Ovarian Cysts. 3/22/12-Lap to remove cysts, look for endo, and see if tubes are clear. 3/22/12-Diagnosed with Severe Endo(tubes are clear). 4/4/12-Post op OBGYN appointment. Told chances of conceiving naturally are very low, but told conceiving in the next few months is our best chance due to being cleaned out during Lap. Referred to a RE. RE said IVF is our only chance to get pregnant. Told only a 20% chance even with two put in. 9/5-Lupron 9/20 Stims(Menopur & Follistim) 9/30 Trigger time 10/2 ER 10/3 fert report-out of 7 eggs retrieved only 2 fertilized. Hello "Thing 1 and Thing 2!" Kinda sad there is none to freeze. Because only 2 we will have 2DT to get them back into a natural envionment 10/4 ET. Found out that only 1 divided. We love you "Thing 2." Thing 1 is now snuggled inside me and we are praying it will be our take home baby! **Did not even make it to my beta, the day before on 10/16/12 I got my F'in period** Such a stab in the heart. Nov 2012-Moving onto domestic newborn adoption! Can't wait for my take home baby. We will try IVF again after 1-2 years of a clear head. Need a break from infertility treatments/issues for my mental sanity! image

    We live in a large one bedroom apartment. She stood in the middle of our living space and said "ok, so there's one bedroom, one bathroom, and this is the living space, show me where they baby's space will be. What are the safety features of the apartment" We showed her the baby's space, we pointed to our smoke detectors/carbon monoxide detectors, told her our fire extinguisher was under the sink and showed her our escape ladder. We explained that we would get window guards, but that since they were custom orders we didn't have them yet. And that was it.

    Every SW is different..some ask about carbon monoxide detectors, some don't..some ask about firearms..some don't.  Overall, I doubt your SW will look in closets or get too thorough.  They will probably just do a "walk-through" which will take a matter of minutes.  Good luck!

    More than likely she's just going to look around. It doesn't have to be pristine, it just has to look like a place a child would be comfy. You'll do great!

    When LL at LCFS visited us she did not look in any closets, or drawers, or cabinets, or anything.  She barely even glanced in each room. Don't kill yourself worrying about little things.  They understand that life happens.

    Ditto the rest. They do not look nearly as close as our nutty brains think they will. It will be A LOT easier than you think. Good Luck :)

    Ours didn't open any closest/doors/refrigerators and didn't even go into our basement, even though we told her it was often used as living space.

    The only times I've heard of a homestudy being that thorough was when a family was fostering and had to show that they had proper locks on certain cabinets/drawers.

    Not sure who LL is at LCFS....we have a different lady.  Thanks...ill just have it clean but not obsessively clean...not that I have time for that anyways!

    I honestly don't think there will be much difference between SWs so you should be fine. Good luck!
