City Mini questions

We're planning to get the tray console thing that hooks on to our City Mini stroller, and I have a couple of questions about that:

1) Does anyone know if you have to completely take that tray thing off and on every time you collapse the stroller?  It used to annoy me that I had to take the converter bar off all the time when DD was in the infant carrier thing.  I guess this is different because maybe you need to take the tray off to get LOs in and out of the stroller anyway?

2) Is there a way to secure LO in the stroller without the shoulder straps?  Like, just across her lap or something?  I noticed that there are D-rings in the sides of the seat - can I clip the straps to those instead of the shoulder clips, and just cinch them down?  Is that what the D-rings are for?  And if not, then WTF are those D-rings for?

Re: City Mini questions

  • 1. we have the tray, and yes you can collapse the stroller without removing it. it also has a hinge so you can swing it open/close. we didn't have to take out the infant car seat adapter to collapse the CM tho. we had a Chico key fit. 2. I don't know about the d rings...I'm eager to read some other responses.

  • 2. I emailed baby jogger about the d rings and they told me they serve no purpose in the US. They apparently have them there for something in Europe. They said ppl use them to attach toys or make the 5pt into a 3pt harness.

OP, that's what you want, a 3 pt correct? I'm going to Google this and see just how to convert it!

Yup, that's what I want to do.  You just unclip the straps from the shoulder hooks, and clip them onto the D-rings.  I tried it at home last night and I think I just need to shorten the straps way down, and it'll be fine.  I did not try it with DD in it, though.  It will be a pain to switch between a 5 point and 3 point, only because I find adjusting the length of the straps to be a PITA.
