1st trigger shot tonight!! Scared!! Advice appreciated.

So in exactly 3 hours we will be administering our trigger shot for our first IUI. We are so excited and freaked out. We you tubed how to do it and DH doesn't think he an do it so one of my best friends who lives literally in front of us (we're in a condo) is going to come help. Haha.

 

Any advice or tips would be great. Is it ok to ice the area first?? 

Me: 29 DH: 32 Married: 10.25.07 Been dealing with amenorrheoa since I was young. (Literally go years w/o AF) Unexpected and very surprising BFP in Feb 2007. M/C April 2007. :( TTC since 2008 Metformin- Didn't help. :( Clomid 50mg/Provera cycle #1 7/2009 - BFN Clomid 50mg/Provera cycle #2- 8/2009- BFN Clomid 100mg/Provera cycle #3- 1/2010- BFN ...Took a break... 2012- Met with RE 09/12- Day 3 Labs- FSH 2.5, Estradiol 47, TSH 4.5 (Doc re-ordering Day 3 labs) DH sperm analysis- all good 11/12- Day 3 Labs- FSH 4.3, estradiol 38, TSH 2.51 Prescribed Synthroid 11/12- HSG all clear 1/13- IUI with Femara and trigger shot on 1/31- BFN 2/13-IUI #2- cancelled due to low response 3/13- planning IUI with injectables

    Your trigger shot will not be bad, promise.  That's one of the easy ones.  Tell her to be quick when sticking it in. I always laid down for any IM shots so I am relaxed.  It won't really be sore tomorrow, at least mine wasn't  Good Luck!!!

    They're pretty easy, you'll be fine! The anticipation of it is worse than the shot itself. It doesn't sting or anything. :-)

    I've never done an IUI trigger. My DH was out of town, so another IVFer's DH did it for me. If it's a hip/rear IM inj, stand on one leg. The leg of the hip/rear you're NOT injecting. It relaxes the muscle of the side you're inj and Firesiren is right...it was the easiest inj of my cycle. The needle just looks big. GL

    I just did my 2nd IM shot by myself the other day. It's intimidating as hell but once I did it, I realized that it didn't even hurt!

    It's just mind over matter!

    According to your siggy, Dec you started injectables, correct?  My Bravelle injections stung a little but the Ovidrel trigger shot was a breeze, felt absolutely nothing, good luck
    Me: 32, DH: 34.
    Trying since Jan 2011. Unexplained IF.
    2 IUIs = BFN.
    1 IVF (Dec 2013) = BFN.
    FET, 2 frosties (June 13, 2014)

    14dp5dt-June 27 -BFP, beta 2061. 2nd beta >5000, 3rd beta >5000, 2 sacs 06/30.
    Twin Girls - 02/11/15 - at 37 weeks (no NICU, home with me at 3 days).

    I need to change my siggy actually. The doc thought I had a fibroid so we got pushed back a month. Luckily I didn't have one and what he saw got "washed" away during the fluid ultrasound. 

     Thanks for all the tips, ladies!  It was definitely mind over matter.
