Where are my NOT STTN mamas?

Roll call!

DS is up 2-5 times a night still.  I never know if its going to be a "good" night or a "bad"one.  I'm starting to think he might have night terrors because he just cries and cries and cries and doesn't really open his eyes.  ugh.  Exhuasting and kind of terrifying to me!

Re: Where are my NOT STTN mamas?

  • DD wakes up 2-3 times a night to eat and then goes back to sleep.  She doesn't take as long to nurse as she used to, so I can live with it.  It's only a few minutes each time.

  • We've been 1-2 times a night for months now. I think she STTN for about 2 weeks; it didn't last long. She wakes up usually around 3, I change her, feed her, then it's back to bed. Sometimes if she wakes up at 2 then again at about 5 she talks to herself until she falls back asleep. Usually I just turn off the monitor for those last 2 hours until I'm ready to get up so I don't hear the chatter.

  • I feel your pain! We had a great thing going for about a month and then he got ear infections and started teething. It's been 2-5 times a night for awhile now. I'm loosing my mind without some good sleep!

  • We had this problem with dd1. She has never slept through the night, still doesn't at two and a half. She was diagnosed with night terrors in December. We were told not to give her high carb foods before bed and to let her sleep where she will sleep. She tends to sleep better on a bed in our room. So sorry that you are dealing with this. I know first hand how frustrating and helpless you feel. Good luck

  • I'm right there with ya! DS wakes 2-5 times a night, too, and I never know what kind of night it's going to be.  It's exhausting.
  • Aw poor guy and poor you. That stinks. It must be hard to see him scared like that.

A gets up anywhere from 2-3 times a night still. I don't mind getting up with her since it seems like she is genuinely hungry. However, sometimes it is hard to get her back to sleep and that is hard. The inconsistency is what is the hardest for me. I'm tense going to bed because I never know what kind of night we are going to have.

I ordered Sleepeasy on Monday and it should be here tomorrow. DH and I are going to read it and see what it is about. We are still on the fence about sleep training but we will see.

  • Lucas is up 2-5 times a night plus the toddler normally wakes up once in there too!! I've been going on no more than 3 hours of sleep at a time for over 2 years now.

  • It rare that LO will STTN but he'll only wake once to eat and that's after 5+ hrs of sleep.

My LO doesn't STTN but most night she is only up once or twice to eat and goes back to sleep. I can live with it.

If he is crying in his sleep could it be teething or growing pains?

For his whole life so far?  EEEEhhheeeeehhhh  Sad

Depends.  Some nights he likes to party for an hour or two.  Most he is only up for a few minutes...but its a few minutes, many times a night.  The times that I am thinking sleep terrors, its anywhere from 20-45 minutes of crying in my arms...

  • Me. We can manage STTN with either rocking or minimal crying 1x a night, but then he gets up around 6am. Or I can go feed him and put him back down which takes about 5 max 10 minutes  and then he sleeps until 7-7:30. I enjoy the quiet time in the morning so I have been taking the easy way out. Hopefully this doesn't create problems later on.

  • We have been having horrible sleep issues and DD's pedi said it sounds like night terrors. She thrashes and screams when we pick her up at night and it sometimes takes a good 30-45 minutes to get her back asleep. Then we can't put her back in her crib or else she wakes up and cries some more. We have tried different sleep training methods and nothing works. I am about to drop out of school because I am so frustrated and exhausted. We see the doc next week and are hoping to be referred to the sleep disorders program at our children's hospital. And naps are just as bad, she shrieks and thrashes around and will finally fall asleep for about 30 mins. We spend most of the day in a nap battle. It is just so awful.

  • Reddy  wakes up 2-5  times a night.    the only times he has slept  through the night are when we have been  on  vacation, not sure why,  but maybe because dh  has  his own bed due to a bad back, and i co sleep.   when we vacation we  are usually all cuddled together in one bed.   i am  hoping for  longer stretches just so i can  help my wrist heal, i think i have mommy's thumb,  and it doesn't help that my elbow  and wrist  are all contorted from side lying at night.
