I got my blood taken last Tues after days of spotting - at the time to check my progesterone, which was good at 22. I was 5w4d they said my hcg was 34,000. (I may be a day or two off - But I know the first day of my last period, and I know the day I had a +OPK.. So I'm confident.) At first they said since my progesterone was good, I didn't have to come back for a second blood test to compare. But after two bad nights of waking up to more heavy bleeding, they told me to come back to check blood levels... So I went this Monday for a second blood test, at 6w3d and they called me today saying my hcg was 86,000. Isn't that super high?
The nurse said my number was good and progressing nicely, but of course I went on Google and it was higher than any range and seemed like
it could be a sign of something bad... Like a molar pregnancy or down's syndrome. I know nurses know the right ranges, etc. but I didn't speak with my OB or anything... And I don't go in for my ultrasound until next Monday. (They don't do at my OB's) Wondering if anyone has any experience with very high hcg levels?

Married my BEST FRIEND on December 1, 2007.
Started TTC in March 2008.
Found out we were expecting our first child in October 2008 - but had a m/c in December 2008 - resulting in a d&e.
Met with a RE in May 2009 and set a plan - but conceived unexpectedly on our own!
Our precious little Sophia was born on February 9, 2010!
My levels seemed high when I checked with charts online as well. I was so nervous we were having twins because DH and I both have twins in our families. Due to an ectopic pg in 2011, I had an ultrasound at 6w1d and it was just one little peanut. I did question my doctor's nurse about the high levels and she said sometimes they are just high. The only downfall I have personally noticed is that morning sickness kicked in earlier than my first AND it's all day, every day.

I agree, HCG isn't reliable for predicting multiples, only the US will tell you that. I anticipated the possibility since we did IVF and put in 3 embryos. I am having twins. My beta at 14dpo was 488. with my singleton son it was like 170 at 14dpo. My progesterone was sky high too at 120. But I've seen several ladies have higher betas with a singleton and several have like a 50 and have twins. You never know until the u/s.
You. can. not. use. betas. to. predict. multiples.
I wasn't trying to guess multiples... I was asking if my betas are way over any "range" I've seen - like 6 weeks being 86,000 could that be a sign of sometihng bad? I keep reading about molar pregnancies, but don't know what those type of levels would be..?

Wow! I'd love to hear the results... Twins I could handle... I'm just so afraid they're too high, like there's something wrong. Good luck to you!

Can you explain? I have never had my numbers or anything, but I have read in several places that high HcG is a sign of multiples?
I agree. I've seen ladies with low numbers with multiples and high numbers with one baby.
