Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Recommend an umbrella stroller

We are going on a trip to Europe in June. We can take an umbrella stroller on the plane for no extra cost. I know absolutely nothing about umbrella strollers. Does anyone have a good one they would recommend? My DD will be 9 months at the time. Price in not a super concern. TIA

Re: Recommend an umbrella stroller

  • We have a Mcclaren Triumph. I love it. It also has a shoulder strap for easy transporting.

  • We have an uppa baby gluxe and everyone I know who has one loves it. It's super light, reclines, and stands when folded.

I found one at Babies R Us for 20 bucksnbsp;on some rack in the middle of an aisle. No name brand, just your basic umbrella stroller and it's awesome. not sure where you are or if there's a BRU near you

    This exactly!
  • I have the i'coo Pluto and I love it.  It folds/unfolds easily, fully reclines and rides like a dream. I really like that it's a little heavier than a traditional umbrella stroller because it gives it a smoother ride. And you'll need that in Europe where the streets and sidewalks are not always super smooth! We took ours on vacation as well. My second choice would be the UppaBaby G-Lux.

    AYE AYE AYE

(You love that song too, ADMIT it.)

After many months of using your luxury, heavy-ass full-featured stroller, many moms are ready to ditch it for a lightweight umbrella stroller that can be easily thrown over the shoulder and tossed in the trunk. Afterall, your baby is getting too heavy to carry around in his car seat anymore. Praise Jonah, it's time to simplify!

An umbrella stroller is called so because it folds up into a lightweight, stick-like umbrella-like carryable thingy thing. You know, like the big golf umbrella that your dad uses.

Umbrella strollers are generally cheaper than full-feature strollers -- just remember you are trading WEIGHT and SIZE for features. Don't plan on taking it jogging or to the beach (in fact, I laugh when I read reviews that say "this stroller isn't very good for hiking." No ***?). Don't expect a huge basket or a cell phone holder... you get the picture.

There are tons of umbrella strollers out there, but these are the "best of" for each category.

Remember: you'll probably use it for the next 2-4 years, so choose carefully.

  • I would like to recommend Kolcraft. This is a good brand and ive been using it for almost a year and i never encountered any problems. A new umbrella stroller should be durable, affordable and high quality.
