Kick me in the shins

DD is finally NOT so fussy (though, sleep would be nice).  DH is SO much more helpful now that she's past that newborn phase.

Two of my friends are pregnant and due in August.  It makes me want another baby.  I just nannied 2 kids PLUS had DD and I was going INSANE.  I need to be kicked back to my senses.  I would be insane working at a university (and trying for tenure) with 3 children - one with autism...

  • I'm totally not helpful...I think you could do it. That is, if you really wanted to. Perhaps waiting until your DD is a little older would help make it feel more doable. Don't get me wrong, I can see how doing that would be very hard but I just mean to say that it can be done. I work full time, I'm in nursing school full time and I have twins (one with special needs) and although it kicks my ass nearly every day I wouldn't change a thing about it. Life has a way of making things work. Good luck in whatever you decide.

  • Im not gonna kick you either. I totally wanna get KU again. I already miss the little teeney baby. I think since it was my first time and I was so nervous and sleep deprived, I barely remember the newborn phase. I wanna go and re-live it. But logically its not smart for me to get KU so fast. I was so exhausted my 1st trimester of pregnancy and it wouldn't be fair to LO to be so exhausted and not have the energy to give her everything she deserves.

  • Stay away from the preggos!!! It's absolutely contagious. I have several friends due this Summer and I know they'll start to rub off before too long. Don't fall for it!!!

  • When you find someone to kick you in the shins, have them drive up to phx and kick me in the shins too. I have two pregnant friends due in March and I saw one last weekend and will see them both this weekend for one of their showers. Plus, the post below with the matching brothers REALLY makes me want to do that and give DS a sibling. Thank the gods that I have Mirena or DH would probably smack me for trying for another so soon.
  • I agree that you could do it, but also that you shouldn't do it.

You have too much on your plate and need to get your tenure before you attempt another baby. Don't bite more than you can chew, KWIM?

I think you said it well!

DH really wants another in the next 2 years. I think he wants DD to have a sibling to be close to in a way DSS isn't. But really, I think she'll be wonderful with DSS as a big brother! She is so happy when he's around. I don't think she'll miss out.

I also know that it's SO hard to give DSS the attention he really wants and needs with an infant. I just couldn't do that to him, again.

And if I wait until I have tenure, I'll be 40. That's just too old for me to have a baby.
