August 2013 Moms

What are you excited about?

Obviously we're all excited to be having a baby, but what's the best part of being an August momma to you? Sure, it's going to be hot as hell, but there HAS to be something good about it.

For me, it's being able to wear maxi dresses and flip flops all summer long. No worrying about shoes fitting my swollen feet, and I might actually be able to find some dresses that I can wear even after my big belly is gone.

"If you're still my small babe
or you're all the way grown,
my promise to you
is you're never alone.
You are my angel, my darling,
my star...and my love will find you,
wherever you are."

  • I'm happy we won't have to drive to the hospital in a blizzard this time. Wow does that add stress.

  • I'm excited to be able to come home from work and walk the dog all proud with my bump. It's been a cold icky winter here so poor pup doesn't get long walks.

  • I really liked being pregnant in the summer last time, I am looking forward to it again. I also love summer birthdays.
  • Wish I could share your warm weather excitement but it will be the middle of Winter here so I can't.

I am excited about having our baby home, and filling our spare room with another wee part of our family. I can't wait to have a full house with the kids and us. I want that feeling of when it's quiet at night and you have everyone safe in their beds. Home is definitely where our (DH and my) hearts are and our baby and my step son will feel that too hopefully.

  • The summer is very slow for me at work, so I'm excited to be able to relax and have some time off during the last few months of pregnancy.

  • Looking forward to seeing DH with LO. This is our first together and I am just really excited to have someone to really support me this time around. XH wasn't very helpful and I found out he was having an affair just shy of baby being 5 months old so this time will be so much better I think and I look forward to that a lot.

  • My DH and I are both teachers. I'm excited he'll be home when the baby arrives.

  • This may sound lame, but I'm happy that my final tri is in the summer, because I'm crazy tall, and all my maternity clothes (from my DS,born in FL) are shorts and short-sleeve tops!

Also, happy to not be giving birth in the tropics during hurricane season this time around. :)

Finally, my EDD is my favorite aunt's birthday, so that makes an August baby awesome.

  • Maxi dresses for sure! Also looking fwd to many trips to the frozen yogurt bar (tutti fruiti) for some tropical favors
  • I'm a teacher too so I excited to be off for the 6 or so weeks before baby arrival! Also the clothing. I'm just going to lounge around in sundresses and other tent like garments!
  • Not exactly excited about having a summer pregnancy.   It'll be a new experience since with my others I was always hugely pregnant during cooler months.

I am from a big family and this baby will have the only August birthday.  Woohooo for getting to throw a pool party for once!

This! Haha except my favorite is coconut. :) Also excited for airy maxi skirts and sandals, and tank tops to show off my beautiful bump!

  • Maxi skirts, flops and being a cute little whale by the pool! :)

  • I am excited that baby is due 2 days before his/her daddy's birthday!
  • To be honest, I am not thrilled with having an August baby. I live in FL, and the heat starts getting unbearable here come late May, and just gets worse and worse come August. While everyone will be at the pool or beach, I will be holed up in my house trying to stave off the horrible humidity. While I am super thrilled to be a mom, and happy to be pregnant...my bodies timing on getting pregnant just makes me want to cry...LOL..

I will make the best of it though...

  • I'm glad that I won't have to bend down to put on most shoes at that point in the summer. Dresses pregnancy = awesome.
I'm most excited about my two kids bonding. Little A is already interested in the baby so I'm thrilled to see how they interact when this one arrives!

  • This will be my 2nd August baby. I loved being pregnant in the summer. I didn't have to buy many maternity clothes because flowy sundresses fit fine! Flip flops are amazing!

Once the end of August comes the weather cools down to a very comfortable warm temperature for lots of walks!!!

  • I think being able to be outside late in the evening will be great!  Hopefully I'll get to do a lot this summer with DS.

Oh, and dresses and flip flops, for sure!

The one downside I'm thinking though is for swaddle purposes.  We swaddled DS from day 1, but it was no worry as he was born in October.  I'm wondering with the heat of August/September, if we'll be able to swaddle safely?  I suppose we'll just have to keep the air turned down low in the house.

I'm really just glad to be having #2, and plan to take off work MUCH earlier than I did last time.  Like, a month early, hopefully.

  • Sun dresses, flip flops and having a pool I can go float in.

Although in Vegas, I can get away with flip flops most of the year, which is exactly what I did with my January baby.

  • Maxi dresses/skirts and flip flops.

I'm excited that my baby is going to have a summer birthday because DB and I both have cold November birthdays and I always wished I could have had outside birthday parties growing up. So I'm happy that we will be able to do fun summer type parties for our babe.

  • I'm super excited about the cute dresses and flip flops too! I absolutely hate socks so the idea of not having to wear them while I'm huge is fantastic!

My SIL told me when she was pregnant w her DS who is a March baby she actually had her DH put her boots on for her before he left for work bc she couldn't do it on her own! So glad I won't have to deal with that!
  • I'm with you on the dresses!

    *no pants dance*

im also excited I won't have to try to do the "have baby wear just enough clothes to not freeze but to not compromise car seat safety" thing. Or the rush to the door form the parking lot in the rain/ snow with a newbie and 2 kids.

Really winter births kinda blow hah. So anything that is opposite of that sounds fabulous :)

  • I'm excited for another summer baby. I had dd in July and loved having a pool party for her first bday. I'm also excited to be on maternity leave when it's still nice out and we can go for walks. Being pregnant in the summer doesn't bother me but I live in ny not someplace that's really hot.

    Same for me !! :)

  • While I am excited for maxi dresses & flip flops - being from Florida that's our standard dress code all year anyway.  I'm not looking forward to the brutal August heat - but I am looking forward to future pool parties and having the gelato truck come cater the parties as well!

  • I am not only excited about cute summer dresses and cute summer shoes, but also that one of my really good friends is due in mid-September - so DH and I will have another couple to go through all of this fun with!
  • Summer dresses, flip flops, floating in pools, and snow cones! I love summer time even though it gets insanely hot in southern LA.

  • Our cottage is only a 30 min drive, so I'm excited to a) not have to worry about looking good in a bikini this year and b) sitting in a chair in the lake and reading! We also bought two hammocks we're going to hang, so hopefully I'll be able to get in and out of them okay!

I'm also looking forward to flip flops and my birkenstocks! Plus, we won't have to bundle up LO to go anywhere for a few months, which will be nice! And we can get out for walks and driving places won't be a PITA!

  • I hope that this doesn't sound morbid but I lost my father and two uncles in June and July. Each passed during different years but it definitely makes the summer months grim. I am beyond excited that my family will have a new life to look forward to this summer! I know I'll be able to see the smiling faces of my loved ones when I see our baby for the first time.
