Re: Won't eat ANY fruit or veggies!

  • Fruit pouches! There are lots of flavors that have veggies in them too. I get the Happy Baby green beans, peas, and pear and my DD sucks it down like it's going out of style. Lots of them have carrots, beets, kale, spinach and all sorts of fruits not just banana, strawberry, and blueberry. Plum organics has a nice line of pouches you can get at BRU. Also, try freezing blueberries and strawberries, she might like the difference in temp. DD loves frozen berries. Also, try stirring some into yogurt and let her go to town, DD likes to pick the chunks out and eat them covered in yogurt. Hope this helps!

  • Not sure if you want to go this route or not, but fruit leathers and fruit smoothies are good. Also fruit on the bottom yogurts are good.

For veggies, I always serve them heavily steamed, plain. You can mash them up, and flavor them if you like. Mrs. Dash often is a good flavor to add with no salt and comes in many varieties.

You're right, it could easily be a texture thing. But just keep trying it in different forms. Sometimes it takes trying a food 10+ times for a child to like it. GL!

  • Have you looked at the weelicious website?  Or the Deceptively Delicious cookbook?  Both are great ways to incorporate veggies in ways that are sweeter.  We love the weelicious spinach muffins- it's a healthy adaptation of a recipe that is basically a box of yellow cake mix with spinach in it.  The "cake" is made of flour, some sugar, applesauce, and eggs.  It tastes like yellow cake but actually is healthy.

We also make omelettes here and mini frittata bites with veggies. Another favorite is fruit smoothies.  Sometimes I'm mean and throw some kale, spinach, or celery in there too.

Yes! I use these a lot. DS like to throw his food over his tray, so the dogs sometimes have a better meal than him. I usually give him one on the way home from Daycare, or as an afternoon snack on the go. I love the Gerber and Happy Tot (or HappyBaby). I usually get them at Target or the grocery store.

If you have the time, I like to make smoothies for DS and he loves them. You could sneak in some veggies as well. The texture might be easier for your LO.

  • I forgot to mention vegetable juices. DD likes carrot juice and you can now find juices with carrot, beet, and other veggies in them. I dilute them and add apple juice if they taste too earthy. Wish I has a juicer LOL
