Trying to Get Pregnant

Lighter periods and not noticing ovulation

Hi Ladies,

Ever since I got off of birth control (which was 4 months ago) my periods are coming on time each month but are much lighter then they were when I was on the pill. I am only heavy for about one day and the rest of the days i'm just spotting. Has anyone else had this experience? Also, they say that you should be able to tell if you are ovulating but I seem to not have any signs except the fact that I tend to feel a little more horny around days 12-16 of my cycle which i'm guessing is when I must be. Has anyone tried the Ovulation tests and do they seem to work? Your advice would really help. Thanks! -Rachelle

  • I've always had light periods. I haven't taken the BCP in 2 years but either way they've always been a medium flow the first day then trails off and is gone by the 3rd or 4th day. Horrible cramps though. Strangely enough, I went to my first fertility acupuncture treatment today and she asked a ton of questions about my menstration. She said the light period is a result of blood deficiency. I'm a RN, so she explained this is different than anemia, as she is referring to Chinese medicine. Could be a result of my vegetarian lifestyle and possible Vit B12 deficiency. Do you eat much meat/fish? HTH
  • Yes I do eat a lot of meat and fish so not sure. Thank you for your advice :)
