Do you use one in LO's room? Did you use one last winter?
Last winter, we had the humidifier set up in DD's room all winter and ran it all night, pretty much every night. We have forced hot air heat, so our house can get kind of dry. This year, though, DD has been sleeping fine and we haven't even taken her humidifier out of the closet. So I was just wondering if it's a factor of her being older and not needing it as much, or maybe out house is less dry, or what. Also, I'm knocking on wood now that I have said that she's been doing fine without it - I'm scared that now she's going to start waking up in the middle of the night!
Re: Humidifiers?
I have a question since you were complaining about dryness and forced air...does your furnace have a humidifier? I know ours does, but I have no idea if this is a common feature or not.
You have to change the humidity level to match the outside temperature, so you may just need to fiddle with it to get it feeling less dry without leaving frost or condensation on your windows.
There is one on there, but it hasn't been used in years and years, even before we bought the house, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't even work. I'm afraid of it, honestly - having moisture inside the ducts seems to me like asking mold to grow there. Do you have to have your ducts cleaned out regularly to prevent that?
We haven't ever cleaned the ducts...they are dusty, but I don't think they are moldy, but I guess they could be.
I actually think there is more moisture in there during the summer, even with the dehumidifier going, than in the winter, but that is just a gut feel.
I'm no expert though, this is kind of DH's domain.
