My doctor clamped and did the first big cut, then they let DH "trim" some more....not sure if they normally cut it more than once or wanted to make it feel more like the experience we would have had with a vaginal birth.
Since a c-section requires a sterile area, DH was not allowed to cut the big cut like we would have been had we been able to have a vaginal delivery. He was allowed to make a small cut after they had moved her into the open crib to assess her. Hope this helps!

I think this will definitely be a question during my next check-up. I know FI would jump on the chance to cut the cord, so I guess we should find out for sure what they allow!
My husband helped cut the cord at mine. Not sure if he just did the "trim" that everyone talks about or what. I was pretty out of it (emergency c-section) but I know he did something.
When we discussed the process the day before, we made sure to put in the request for DH to cut the cord. The nurse said they would honor it and they did! It was really important to me (and special for DH) that he cut the cord and was the first to hold baby as I knew I would be laid out on the OR table!!
The dr. cut the cord with our first which still makes me bummed because I know my DH would have loved to. This thread makes me want to ask the Dr. about letting him do the trim thing so he at least gets to do something. Thanks ladies!!

Re: Who cut the cord at your c-section?
This was my experience with both c/s.

My OB did. I can't remember if they asked DH or not; if they did, he declined.
