Response from B.Toys - Woofer Guitar

So, a couple weeks ago, I posted about how C had the neck strap of his Woofer Guitar twisted around this neck.  It is rated for 2 years and up, but the velcro holding the strap is very strong so doesn't break free.  I wanted to let them know of the situation and see if I could remove the strap.  I *just* got the response -

---------------------

Hi lrn,

There is no way to remove the strap but I will pass your email on to
our Quality Control department for their consideration.

Thank you for your email.

B.est,

Lisa and Team B.

Oh. Hmm, I guess I somehow expected the company to tell me where the magical release button is or something!  Mainly I guess I just wanted them to have more concern.

  • That response annoys me! They could at least have said they are sorry for your incident & that they'll make the powers that be aware of the situation. I guess they can't admit fault in the slightest, though.

  • Yikes that's a bit unnerving. And surprising you had to wait so long for a lame response too. Wondering if we will be seeing recalls on those too in a little while so they can attach a breakaway strap or something

  • Thanks ladies!  Yeah, I guess I just expected so sort of realization that this could be an issue.  I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a recall either.  He still really likes the toy though so might still just cut the strap off.

  • Thanks for the update (or lack there of! haha)

My H was watching M over at my place the other day and brought up the exact same concern about that toy, without me telling him about the comments on here about it. I can only imagine that many people are starting to pick up on it and/or sending in emails. I wouldn't be surprised to see some kind of recall, too.

  • Yeah, that's a pretty lame response!  But thank you for the update!  DS does love that guitar AND using the strap, like he's a rockstar.  Not sure what we're going to do.  Maybe there's a way to cut out their super-strength velcro and replace it with velcro that breaks away more easily??

  • So helpful!
Maybe you could gum up the Velcro with some cotton from a cotton ball or something.

  • I'd just cut the strap and put a ring closure or something else instead of Velcro. Maybe cut it near the guitar and put some cheaper Velcro on the strap and the guitar that will come undone. Yeah, you'd think they'd more concerned about a kid strangling!

  • I assume that the velcro is so sturdy b/c the guitar is heavy but either way, I think I'll cut that part off and sew something else on instead.  Yep, what a letdown.

  • I think bosha's right about the slightest inkling of fault and liability.

I'm curious if the lighter velcro would still support the guitar's weight.
