Crunchy moms

What does this mean, exactly? I've seen it on here a handful of times. Give me some examples of crunchy moms.

  • There are different degrees of crunchiness too...  Some crunchy moms not only cloth diaper, but also use cloth feminine products and cloth toilet paper.  I try to buy organic when i can and use natural products, cloth diaper, and recycle.

This all the way! I'm considered somewhat crunchy but nowhere near the extremes of some of the people we know.

  • I'm a little bit crunchy. I cloth diaper, use cloth wipes, and will be making my own baby food.

This.  We also have a compost so we don't throw out green waste... not at all full crunchy, but making an effort.

I consider myself a stage 1/2 crunchy person. Cloth diapers, no paper towels/napkins. Baby wearing loving - breastfeeding  - BLW/make my own baby food.

I draw the line at anything adult bathroom related. Also, I love meat and won't be becoming a vegetarian any time soon.

oh yea forgot that, I am 100% veggie for like 15 yrs now and about 90% vegan because I just don't like most dairy.  I wish I was EBF, but a baby with tongue tie and mastitis that resulted in an abscess and hospital stay just proved too much to overcome.

oh- I also had a natural labor for crunchy purposes.

  • I babywear, breastfeed, bed share, and own both a nosefrida AND an amber teething necklace. Also, we'll BLW. Not at all full on crunchy, but can I get honorable mention?

  • I would definitely consider us to be a crunchy family.  We cloth diaper, use cloth wipes, EBF, baby wear and will make our own baby food.  We don't use harsh chemicals in our home (make-up, bath stuff included), try to eat organic as much as we can and look to homeopathic treatments for what ails us rather than OTC medications (I'm a huge fan of acupuncture).

  • UO day yet?  I HATE the term "crunchy".  I dont know why...but it gives me the creeps for some reason.

That being said, we totally are and are becoming more so every day.  We're getting backyard chickens.  We use cloth diapers and wipes, the amber teething necklace, wool dryer balls, we have a compost pile, a rain barrel to catch water, and probably more that I can't think of right now.

AND...never, ever thought I'd do this.  But I purchased Jade and Pearl Sea Sponges today. They are re-usable tampons.  Reviews are great and it says you can wear them during sex while on your period...so that sold me on giving it a try.  (I also posted this on the Eco Board to see if anyone else has tried them...no responses yet).

Me too, except I haven't actually purchased my Nose Frida and Amber Necklace yet. Although I need to soon, since I have a 25% coupon code.

I also use a diva cup, cloth diapers/wipes and had a homebirth.

  • I also think "crunchy-ness" varies by location.  I'm very crunch for south florida but I would not consider myself at all crunchy according to universal "crunchy" standards.

  • Anyone use cloth wipes in the bathroom?  I think I'm convinced...we're already washing cloth diapers and wipes.
