Infertility

It's official, FET#3 is a BFN

Hello everyone,

I just called the clinic to ask for the beta results and it's another BFN. I was counting on it after using a gazillion FRERs and seing nothing there. The WTF phone call with my RE will be tomorrow. I hope I can still join the ladies cycling in March for IVF/ICSI #2.

I'm upset but IVF#1 was just the beginning. IF will have a hard time knocking me to the ground.

It is just very difficult when I feel I can't count on DH for support. While he knew I was getting BFNs on hpt, he thought it would be for my benefit to announce that some distant cousin had just given birth the day before. I sarcastically said "congrats! lucky them" or something, to what he replies: "oh well, if this doesn't work with the children we can start blowing our money in expensive cars." WTF?!?! I said this wasn't funny and didn't talk to him for almost two days. Now I have a tension headache... and my ILs are coming to stay with us on thursday... I just feel like hiding somewhere for the time being.

Thank you for listening.

Re: It's official, FET#3 is a BFN

  • Aw, I'm so sorry that this FET was also a bust. Sometimes guys are so stupid when it comes to IF.

  • I am so sorry. IF is such a painful process and it sucks how much strain it can put on a relationship sometimes. What terrible timing for the in-laws to visit. I hope things turn around for the better soon but you definitely have every right to be upset right now and not have to force a smile for anyone. Hugs!
    TTC since June 2011
DX: DH (30) severe MFI, severely low count & low motility
    Me (32): all clear

    SA 8/23/12: Zero sperm

  • I am so, so sorry!!  I hope you can turn this around & start your next cycle asap.

    My TTC Journey:
Dx: Hypothalamic amenorrhea / mild PCOS (Pretty much a hormone/ovulatory disorder)
Progesterone to induce period w/ the goal of Clomid - never got period (September 2011). Referred to RE.
Femera - never responded to the meds (December 2011)
Clomid with TI - BFN (February 2012)
    Injectables (Menopur) - hyperstimulated/canceled (March 2012)
Injectables #2 (Menopur) with TI- BFN (May 2012)
IVF - OHSS (transfer canceled), but 11 frozen! (June 1012)
    FET - 1 transferred on 8/09/12. Beta#1 (11dp5dt): 350.3; Beta#2: 365; Beta#3: 157. Biochemical pregnancy.
    FET # 2 - 1 transferred on 11/01/12. Beta#1 (11dp5dt): 337; Beta#2: 769. BFP!!! 1st ultrasound 11/28/12 showed heartbeat, but measuring 5 days behind. 2nd ultrasound 12/05/12 - miscarriage.
    FET # 3 - 1 transferred on 1/24/13. Beta#1 (11dp5dt): BFN.
    FET # 4 - 2 transferred on 3/21/13.  Bet #1 (11dp5dt): 660; Beta#2: 1,300.  Miscarried at home @ 6 weeks.

    FET # 5 - 2 transferred on 7/12/13.  Beta #1 (10dp6dt): BFN.
Attempted an IUI in late August 2013, but didn't respond well.
IVF #2 with PGS - Stims started 10/28 with retrieval on 11/11.  Of 14 mature eggs, 10 fertilized, 4 made it to Day 5 & 1 made it to Day 6. We did PGS on the Day 5 embryos, and 3 of 4 were normal. Had ET on 11/17. Beta #1 (8dp6dt): 203. Beta #2 (10dp6dt): 618. We since had two ultrasounds & on 12/19, our RE released us to the OB.  On 1/02/14, we had our first ultrasound with the OB where we heard the heartbeat.  We are so thankful for the blessing & crossing every finger & toe for a healthy & successful pregnancy.

  • I am so sorry you got another bfn. Judging by your siggy, I was wondering the same thing as Gr8te about your clinic not growing the embryos to day 5 to freeze only the strongest blasts. My clinic will only freeze and transfer high quality blasts. Possibly if you had stronger ones transfered, you wouldn't have to keep going through the heartache of multiple bfn's. But, I know every clinic is different and has their reasons. Hope your next cycle is a success!

Has your DH done a sperm DNA frag test? If not, you should look into it. They think that's what caused our embryos/blasts to arrest. Also, it causes implantation failure too.

I already have a list of things I want to discuss with our RE tomorrow:

    -DNA frag test

    -endometritis/DH infection screening (repeat)

-low cortisol levels (I saw it while reviewing all my labs from last year)

-PIO shots for the 2ww instead of just vaginal supps

    -Back up sperm sample

I hope my RE doesn't expect to get the call done in 5 min.
