Must be nice to not have the fear of loss. She really is blessed in that sense. I still can't bring myself to buy anything. Sigh.

Also, how nice to have that much money to drop! Jealous much!

Yeah, I was never that naive ... Some people blow my mind!

I do wish I had that much confidence that things would work out, but then again, I couldn't even bring myself to spend that much money now. Just buying one item freaks me out.

I felt the same way! I wish I had that confidence that everything would be ok. I also wish I had $800 that I could spend in one stop!

I'm thinking any purchases will wait until after 21w.

Someone on the same board posted that they also made an impulse purchase of a crib. Even before I had my loss I was never that confident. What a sad reminder to have sitting around if something were to go wrong.

Holy cow. Honestly, thanks to generous family and friends, I'm not sure DH and I have spent $800 on baby stuff period!

One of the other boards I frequent has a girl who is barely 5 weeks who bought a dresser and a carrier (a bad brand) at a thrift shop last week. A few people told her she might want to chill out "just in case" and people jumped all over them for ruining her happiness. I can see both sides, but I don't think there is harm in guarding your heart a little bit.

I saw the same thing. In my last pregnancy I had bought 2 pieces of maternity clothing, they came 2-3 days after I had miscarried.

Some of my clothes are getting tighter but I just cannot bring myself to buy maternity clothes yet. I feel this pregnancy is different, but I am like you all my PgAL brain tells me to not get in a hurry. It sucks.

I told my mom after I lost mine that I would never be able to be "blissfully" pregnancy, she disagreed with me, but I think I will always be cautious with things until the end.

$800? Not to sound too pessimistic, but I hope she saved her receipts. I remember that sick feeling the first time I bought something with this pregnancy, not to mention registering and baby shower plans...

Really? Wow. I've never felt that confident in pregnancy to just go out and blow a ton of money before I've gotten the OK, and even then...I'm so glad I didn't go in my impulses and buy a bunch of stuff before I lost Noah. Even now, I'm having a really hard time buying the things we need, and I know we need to get on it!

About 8 weeks into my first PG DH and I bought a clearance crib that we loved, it wasn't anywhere near $800 though. DH packed the pieces of the crib away after we lost the PG a month later. We didn't regret buying it because we knew we would be parents someday, somehow, but I'm glad we didn't have a crap load of baby things laying around as reminders.

Wow. We had two losses, and I can't bring myself to buy maternity clothes--let alone a crib/stroller/etc. I could barely set up my Pinterest board.

We had an early m/c and our doctor told us there was no reason to suspect another one and I still waited until 19 weeks to tell DD (3.5) about the pregnancy. My sister POAS and told EVERYONE that day, including her DS (3.5) that he was going to be a big brother and there was a baby in her tummy. A week later she found out she wasn't pregnant... I tried to tell her to be a little cautious, thinking she may hold back a bit knowing we had a m/c and that it could happen to anyone but everyone handles things differently.

Wow, I'd love to be able to spend $800 on baby stuff! But... I haven't bought much. So far I cashed in on a free offer for a baby sling (still unused from the last pregnancy), and bought a "My first Christmas" hat on clearance. Other than that, I don't want to load up on anything yet. I must confess, with my first loss my hubby and I did go out and register, but that was more so we could "shop without shopping." We never sent the registry out because it was waaaay too early, and of course we're glad we didn't. I think I'll stick to wish lists for now!

I get being excited and all, but to not have had an apt yet and to go out and buy all that stuff. That in itself is crazy. but I agree with you ladies that after having a loss it makes it hard to do certain things. I couldnt have gone out at any one point and just drop $800 for this baby. Even at this point I only buy certain amount of things that dont cost alot. I wish her the best and she nevers had to know the dark side like we do.

We were pretty cautious the first time around, even after seeing the heartbeat (since I am a geriatric or elderly mother to be!). I bought a couple of little things that are now safely hidden in my closet! I signed up for all sorts of "weekly" e-mails and that was bad enough.

This time... I bought a really cute dress (even though we are team green, I know two other women due in July- odds are one of us will have a girl!).

I can't imagine buying that much stuff that early!! I was really really close to buying a crib early (the night before my 12 week appointment) this time, but I just couldn't do it. I was too afraid. Now I am thinking end of March!

I did cave and buy two bella bands though, in part because they were on sale for $10 a piece, and in part because I'm already struggling, thanks to extreme bloat, to button half my work pants.

Wow, I really hope things go well for her. I still have trouble getting excited, and I'm in the second trimester. I'm happy we don't have any big reminders from our first baby. A friend was moving and getting rid of his very nice crib and changing table, so my boyfriend convinced me to take it, but I almost had a panic attack having that in the apartment in my first trimester! I guess every one and every pregnancy is different. I've at least told people, my friend who is pgal and I think 20 weeks just now told her immediate family.
