Another Milwaukee Area Question

Hello Ladies,

Sorry for a similar question but I'm looking for an OB/GYN doc in the Milwaukee.  I've lived with my hubby in Milwaukee for 6 years and have been wanting to switch to a local doc for years but never did it.  Now that we got our BFP this past weekend I have the motivation!  I'm completely clueless and would love to know all opinions [good, bad] before we swtich.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts and insights!

Re: Another Milwaukee Area Question

  • Congrats!!!

I just switched from an Aurora doctor (West Allis Women's Pav.) to a doctor at Froedtert Hospital and I could not be happier. I did a lot of research and quite a bit of networking with local Milwaukee area mom's and some nurses/physicians in the area. I met with my new doctor a couple of weeks ago and toured the hospital this past weekend, I personally could not be happier with my decision. This is my first go around but I know several mom's who delivered there that rave about it. I did hear some scary stories from some of the other hospitals. But I am sure those stories are at any hospital so you really have to rely on your gut instinct when you meet a physician and visit a hospital. I would tour the hospitals before choosing your physician. The hospital was the main reason for my move. I also liked the fact that Children's is at my fingertips should something go wrong.

    Good luck!!

  • I delivered both of my sons at the Women's Pavilion and had a great experience.  I am currently seeing Dr McAvoy (you see all of the doctors and/or midwives during pregnancy) and really like him.  I have seen all of the doctors and Allie McNeil (midwife).  I liked Dr McAvoy, Dolan and Mokrohisky the best for the doctors and though Allie McNeil was awesome as well.  I would highly recommend the practice.

I saw Dr Brian Bear when I was pregnant with my first son and would avoid him.  He is pretty arrogant and you literally wait about 1-2 hours for every appointment.  I wish I were exaggerating.

  • I also delivered both of my kids at the Women's Pavilion and had a good experience both times. AND I also was a long time patient of Dr. Bear's and can second everything Irish City Girl said and then some ...

Dr. Powell delivered my son (after Bear left while I was in the middle of pushing) and she was fantastic. I have since switched to her group and have been much happier.

  • I just delivered at west allis in sept 12 and i had a terrible expereince with the hospital, staff and the powell, jaglin, lloyd group. NEVER AGAIN! Too sum it up they told my mom "99 of the time the system works and tonight it didn't." STAY FAR, FAR AWAY!
  • I just moved from Milwaukee. We lived downtown. I delivered at Columbia St. Mary's - Ozaukee County at the Columbia Center. Had a terrific experience. All the staff was very nice and helpful. My OB was Dr. Kostic - Love her - Mom of 3 kids. She has an office in Mequon and at the new hospital in Grafton. Our Pediatrician was Kevin Dahlman, he is at Aurora on Good hope and on Silver Spring by Bayshore Mall. He is so great with babies and kids.

  • I just had my first appointment with a PA from Moreland OB/GYN Associates. I LOVED them! I talked with Jill (the PA) for over an hour and she answered all of my questions and got back to me on the ones that needed research. I am high risk because of my Crohn's disease and they seem ready to help me through anything. The address is:1111 Delafield St Suite 311 Waukesha, WI 53188  Here is the website: https://www.morelandobgyn.com/I will be seeing Dr. Joi Davis starting on the 25th. Good Luck and God bless all of you Wisconsin soon-to-be mommies! We need to stick together... especially in this snow! :D

I am also currently seeing the doctors in this practice at the West Allis Women's Pavilion. I like knowing all the doctors and midwives so there aren't any surprises come delivery day (August 2013). I have had a great experience so far, everyone has been very nice, supportive and available for questions.
