DH and I are thinking about getting one. I have a few questions for you!
1. Do you feel like there is enough storage? We live OOT from our families, so we make the drive home 2-3 times a month...with a lot of stuff for Adelynn! We'd like to be able to leave the stroller in the back and still be able to fit groceries, bags, etc. back there.
2. How is the gas mileage on it? I know gas has come down a lot, but I'm afraid it is going to skyrocket again, and I drive about 60 miles each day to work.
3. Overall, would you recommend it as a family car?
Thanks!
Re: Does anyone have a Honda Pilot?
We have a 2003 Acura MDX which is essentially the same car as a Pilot, just with a few more bells and whistles.
1. The storage is great, if you keep the third row collapsed into the floor. We keep a Graco Metrolite stroller in the back all times and still have tons of room left over.
2. On the MDX, we get anywhere from 17-23 MPG. It isn't great considering we upgraded from a Civic that got 30 MPG on average but it isn't horrible either. Our tank is about 17-18 gallons so if we are traveling solely on the highway (i.e. - on vacation) we got close to 400 miles on one tank.
3. We love our car and DS loves sitting up higher and being able to see out the windows better.
I have an '04 Pilot and absolutely love it. LOVE IT.
1. There is plenty of storage. We leave the 3rd row down and always leave the stroller back there. We've got plenty of room for groceries, shopping, the dog, etc. There is a nice little hidden compartment in the back as well that you can put things in as well.
2. Gas isn't bad considering its a full size SUV. I drive about 45ish miles a day and only have to fill up once a week, so long as we don't take any other long road trips. I'd say I average 18-21 mpg a week. The newest model (I don't know if you're getting new) has Variable Cylinder Management, which turns off cylinders automatically to save on gas depending on your driving. I think thats a great feature!
3. I would definitely recommend it. I honestly feel like its amazing to drive - a smooth ride with a lot of space inside. GL with your decision!
