Let me start by letting you know it is okay to judge me. I feel awful for what happen and it was 100% preventable. I wanted to let you guys know as a reminder to put up your gates!
A fell down the stairs on Saturday afternoon. DH was napping on the couch so I took her upstairs to go to the bathroom with me. When I went to wash my hands she was at my feet. I took for granted how fast she just started moving and I also took for granted that she has never ventured into the hall before. It was absolutely terrifying when I heard her start falling down the steps. I got to the steps just to watch her fall down the last few. I ran after her and picked her up. She was crying but stopped soon after I picked her up. She was smiling at me within five minutes of it happening but I could tell she was sore.
At the ER they did a CAT Scan and a X-Ray just to make sure everything was okay. Luckily everything is. She just has a small bruise on her forehead. We are very very lucky that everything is okay. I feel like the worst mother in the world. So, if you haven't put up your gates do it today. I slacked on buying one because there were no stores within an hour radius that had a gate for stairs. Now I wish I had made it more of a priority.
Re: Our Trip to the ER
no judging here...
Im just so happy that she is alright!
Man, no doubt when people warn you that is seriously takes less than a second for something to happen!!!
about 2 months ago DS was on the bed (and this was when he didn't have a care in the world to start crawling, let alone go from sitting to onto his belly), I told DH to watch him while I got my bra (arms reach from the bed, where I was standing right in front of DS but had to take one step away and not looking), he said ok, but was on the other side of the bed. Well, I hurried and grabbed my bra, and by the time (literally less then 2 seconds) I turned back around Kyler was flipping forward off the side of the bed. Man, when you become a mother, you get ninja like reflexes! Thankfully I caught him half way down!
we started army crawling about a week ago, and I haven't done any yet either... granted, we live in a ranch, and the basement has a door, so I don't need any baby gates, but I need to start doing the plugs etc... I was even at home depot yesterday looking at the baby proofing stuff, then walked off... lol...
