Does anyone have any good ideas on how to get potential guests to skip the gift? We really just want to have a large party of mostly adults to celebrate an amazing year since we had twins (that were a surprise to us at the 20 wk u/s) we really just want to have fun with no pressure on anyone. I've seen ideas of donations, doing a time capsule for your 12 year old child to open in 11 years and a request for books... How do I word this without being pushy? I really don't want fits but want to have the social event to thank everyone for their support this year...
Re: 1st Birthday Party - no gifts
We recently attended a 2 year old's birthday party and the invitation simply clearly said, "Your presence at this celebration is a gift to us. Please, no presents."
I'm sure there will be people that still bring a present (especially family and folks with grown children who don't get to buy baby stuff often), but I followed this request at this particular party and the other friends and young parents there did, too.
