Brown spotting question

I'm sorry I know a lot of people have already posted about this. But this morning after I woke up I used the bathroom and saw a small piece of brown tissuey stuff in the toilet. Then I wiped a few. more times and saw light brown watery blood. I am freaking out right now and I know it's pretty common but it's still Scarey to me. I'm 6w2d how long should I monitor this before calling my OB? And. If you've experienced this how long did the spotting last? Thanks ladies.

Re: Brown spotting question

  • They say as long as you don't have cramping and it's not red blood you're okay.  I'd give your doctor a call and let them know what's going on and let them tell you what to do.  They're used to nervous calls from pregnant ladies, they'll let you talk to a nurse.  Good luck!

  • I started spotting on Saturday and I am still spotting. I called my ob this morning and they brought me in for a transvaginal ultrasound today in order to check things out. I think it's very common but I completly understand being freaked out. It doesn't hurt to call if you are very concerned.

  • I have been spotting for almost a week, but it is only sometimes and I only see it when I wipe. It made me nervous but the nurse told me it may be caused from sex and that it should go away after a week. Its coming up on a week and it has not gone away completly but I am not too worried about it.

  • I spotted at 6wks exactly only lasted a day but my OB wanted me to come in just as a percaution. I dot wanna worry you but for peace of mind I would call ur OB office. I was so much more calm when I went in and she said everything was fine and spotting is normal as long as its brown and not flowing like a period and u do t need a pad.

  • Thank you all so much. It's difficult not to worry, but I just spoke with my Dr. And she said all of the same things you guys said. Ill try not to worry too much. Thanks again for your words!
  • I agree with what has been said already. My mother spotted through all of her pregnancies and everything was fine. I know it can be scary and I know in rare instances that brown spotting can in fact be a sign of miscarriage because it happened to me. But really, it is completely normal! If it's really concerning you I would call the doctor. At 6w2d they might not be able to see too much though.
