Hi everyone.
I used to be an active member of the boards on here 4'ish years ago when I was prego w/my daughter. Hubby & I tried to start to conceive again about 2 1/2 years ago but have had no luck thus far. We recently started fertility treatments & I'm on my third cycle of Clomid. I have 3 good-sized/mature follicles this month, which is very exciting.....but my post-coital test yesterday didn't go real well. My CM was really thick & cloudy and they aren't sure if it will clear up as I get closer to O or if its just that way due to the Clomid & will remain that way throughout this cycle.
Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know of any remedies to thin the mucus out?
Today is Day 16 for me & I've been O'ing around Day 18 lately.
Thanks much for any/all advice you could give.
I look forward to being on here a lot more now, as I think the support will be really helpful to us.

Re: Thick, cloudy CM.....remedies?
Can you do an IUI? You will by-pass the CM. it is probably too late this cycle to thin out the CM for this cycle. was taking 2400mg of mucinex(regular kind, not Dm) per day starting on day 1 as my CM is impenetrable. Drink tons of water while taking it.

The nurse suggested an IUI on the phone to me this morning but DH's um, "specimen", has to be no older than 60-90 mins old & he's already at work & works an hour away
We will prob go that route next month (assuming we need a next month)...but it doesn't look like it'll work out on such short notice this time. They can't give me an appointment any earlier than 9am tomorrow & he has to leave for work by 6:30 or so.....
Such a bummer. He can usually go in late/leave early but his partner is off all week & so he has to be there. Sigh.
I have been googling mucus remedies & the Robitussin thing keeps coming up. How interesting. Thank you so much for your suggestion! I am drinking tons of water & just ate a grapefruit & took some Evening Primrose, as I found this information in my searching.....
What are some other possible ways to improve cervical mucus?
Drinking plenty of water should always be considered in addition to any other therapies one might try. Estrogen is sometimes given to help mucus production, though doctors have mixed opinions of its benefit, especially when used with Clomid (and some suggest using Tamoxifeninstead of Clomid). Injectable gonadotropins used for controlled ovarian hyperstimulation often have a positive effect on cervical mucus as well. Some home/natural remedies include eating salty foods such as popcorn (mucus is very salty), taking evening primrose oil, avoiding dairy products (they can thicken mucus), eating lots of baby carrots, and also avoiding antihistamines, including high doses of vitamin C. Another suggestion that is increasing in popularity is to drink grapefruit juice in order to improve or increase the amount of cervical mucus. If one is on prescription medications, it is a good idea to look for warning about grapefruit juice consumption (it isn't recommended with several medications for hypertension, for example).
