Delaware Babies

YMCA

Does anyone have any experience with the YMCA in either Newark or Elkton?

I know it sounds horrible but I am totally thinking of joining for the free childcare while there ha ha Its not really so much for me as it is for Annabelle to get socialized more. She is with me all day every day and I think it would be nice for her to spend some time with others. We do Gymboree now but its $79 a month which we cant keep up forever. We got a deal so thats why were there now but thats a lot! Our membership for Gymboree ends in February and I was thinking of doing YMCA after that. Not only does she get to be with others but mama gets an hour or two to herself either at the gym or the pool :-D

Re: YMCA

  • I was thinking about joining the YMCA in Bear/Newark. I wanted to sign C up for the baby aquatics class and it's cheaper when you are a member.

  • Thats the one I was considering too but I wonder if I can join that one if I'm a resident of MD? Idk how they work exactly.

  • Hi!  I am a member of the DE YMCA's and frequented the Newark (Western Family YMCA) until into this pregnancy.  I made so many wonderful friends!!!  Really, some of the most beautiful women I have ever met.  It's a great community and the classes and instructors are wonderful.  I love Zumba and Zumba Toning, specifically the instructor Pamela, Body Combat, Aqua Aerobics, and so many more!  My 5.5 year old son attends karate there and spent many hours in the Kids Zone during the summer while I worked out.  They also have a great pool complex open during the summer with an entire child oriented pool that starts at 0 inches, so it's good for the little ones.  I encourage you to join before the end of January because the joiner fee is waived this month.  They also waive it in September, but that's too far away!  I miss it right now and can't wait to get back there.  Hope to see you there!
