Late period... Negative HPT?

I am currently a few days late. My cycle is always a consistant 26  days. We have been TTC for 6 months. I took 2 HPT's and they both came back negative. Is it possible that I could be pregnant even though the tests say negative? Should I call my Dr. and get bloodwork done? It is driving me nuts I can't get it off my mind, all I think about all day and night is that I could possibly be pregnant!?Please help....

    I called the doctor after taking 2 HPT's and them both being positive, the nurse said it is more common for the HPT's to show a false negative than a false positive, especially if it is only a few days after a missed period. My suggestion is to either wait a few days and try another test at home or schedule a doctor's appointment and see what the bloodwork says. Up to you!

    I would wait a few days. I didn't have a hpt until I was a week late. up until then, they all came out negative.
