Gifts for grandparents?

What are you getting YOUR grandparents for the holidays? (not baby's grandparents-your grandparents) I'm stumped.

Re: Gifts for grandparents?

  • We don't usually do gifts for grandparents.  If I were going to I would probably do a nice picture frame or something like that.

  • We got one grandma a candle and the other a wind chime.  Sorry, we have no grandpas left so I can't help you there.
  • What about picture frames that you can have personalized so that when your baby is born, you can just send some pictures.
  • We always get my grandfather some type of book.  A nice ornament is always an idea for grandmothers.
  • none of my g-parents are alive. ?we don't buy for H's.
  • We don't usually buy for grandparents.  Last year we gave them all a framed wedding photo.  We probably won't do anything this year.
  • My grandparents are like my parents so we generally do pretty good gifts.  This year Gram is getting a DVD player and some DVD's.  Gramp is always harder to buy for but he'll probably end up with a Casino GC.
  • I'm stuck on this also.  I think my grandma is more excited about becoming a great-grandma than my mom is about becoming a grandma.  I'd like to get her something baby related but I'm not sure what.  I can't find any "great-grandma" stuff.  I was thinking about getting a frame engraved and then sending her a picture once the baby arrives.  Now I just need to think of what to say on the engraving.

  • Our gifts this year for everyone are mostly gift cards: for car washes (you can get 10 packs), molly maids, salon/spa, Omaha steaks, etc. But we are also getting Amaryllis plants for "minor" gifts - like for our doctor, nurses, co-workers, etc.
  • My one set of grandparents doesn't really need any "things" so we usually get them a dried fruit assortment and shortbread (two foody items they like). My other grandmother reads all day long/stays in her house, so a paperback, crossword puzzles or real puzzles are always appreciated by her.
  • We make them different little gift baskets depending on what type of stuff they like. This year we did lotions, coffee stuff, and sweets.
  • Ooh you ladies have given me some great ideas! My dad's parents are coming out to my parent's house in a few weekends and since it's just going to be a very small gathering around Christmas I feel like I should get them something small. I really like the idea of a little gift basket with foodly items and maybe a picture frame so I can send pics after the baby comes. They are very excited to be great-grandparents so I know it will be very much appreciated. Thanks for all of your help!
