Hi Everyone!
I am wondering what baby monitor you will be using and why. I am set on the idea of a video monitor, and have decided to pass on the angel sleep pad based on the advice of numerous STM. Any recommendations regarding which video monitor works best, etc.?
Thanks!
Re: Baby Monitors
I am a FTM and we decided to not go with a video monitor. Too many people I talked and too many negative reviews made it seem like the video monitor was not worth it.
We got a digital audio monitor with 2 parent units, one to keep upstairs in our bedroom and one to bring downstairs.
This is what I got as well

I put the angel care monitor on my registry. What types of things have you heard about it? If they are bad things I might have to look at some other options.
To Lex703: The reason I am not getting the angel car monitor with the sleep pad is because everyone I know who has used it says it's not worth it. It is very expensive, and basically, you are paying a lot of money for an ulcer. They explained that because the pad doesn't cover the entire matress, if the baby moves a bit and gets off the pad, the alarm goes off. Both you and the baby are now up and panicking. They added that newborns do not breath as steadily as adults do (ie. they take 3 breaths, then there is a brief pause, then they take another few breaths, and there is a pause, etc.), which can also lead to more false alarms. They stated that they were getting so little sleep to begin with, and then with all of these false alarms on top of it, they were so stressed that it wasn't worth it. That being said, it can be reassuring, but with the extra panick attacks, I wonder if it's worth the extra money. They explained that with a good monitor you can hear the baby breathing anyway, so that can also be reassuring. At the end of the day, I decided that I would be stressed out enough as it is, and that a video monitor would be enough to keep everyone in the family safe and sane. Hope this helps!
I am a STM and we have the AngelCare video with sensor pad. We didn't buy it until our LO was 6mths old (and transitioning into the crib), so we never used the sensor pad.
It was well worth the $400CDN$. I just wish I could get a second one for this baby. I can see DS trying to crawl out of crib, etc. It tells me the room temp, etc. I had a lot of friends who had issues with their Summer video monitor.
