Bumpers.

Are you using a bumper in LO's crib? I've seen quite a few mamas with them in the crib on FB.

I ask because we're going to have to figure something out. Sergio scoots to the side of his crib, uses the bars to pull up to the head of his crib, and bangs the top of his head against the bars. Then, he obviously screams because it hurts, but then does it again...like he's trying to break out or something. He's usually quiet about it until he smacks his head, so when I'm sleeping, I don't know what he's in the middle of doing until I hear the thump and the crying that follows.

We're not. DS is getting his leg stuck here and there, but I'm just going to wait it out.

DD figured out how to untie her breathable bumpers at 6 months. I came and found her wrapped up in them.

So they're just out for us.

This is what I'm worried about. Eventually they figure it out. Trial and error and all that.

Just wait until he learns to pull himself to standing but not know how to put himself back down. We watched my niece overnight at this stage. It was a hoot.

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

  • We are using breathable bumpers right now. DD got her arms and legs stuck a lot! So we are planning on using them until she is better coordinated in that if she would get an arm between the slats she will likely to be able to get it out herself.

  • We are using breathable bumpers for now but will reassess when she starts to really move around, I have a feeling she is going to go out them non stop.

  • None for us. So many people still use them, I don't get it.

  • We don't use them... I didn't use them with the older kids either. They eventually stop getting stuck or smacking themselves on the rails... My dd was the worst about it, but C has only has his arm stuck once..

  • We use a breathable one right now but I can tell it's going to be short lived. He only does naps in the crib right now.

  • We use breathable bumpers. Now that DD is rolling all over she is constantly smacking her head off the railing and getting her legs stuck. As of right now it is a good solution for us.

  • We are thinking of getting the mesh bumpers because he now decided he likes to put his legs between the bars. I'm too much of a worried bish to get regular cute bumpers.

  • Yes we're using one after he got his feet stuck in there two days in a row.

  • No bumpers. DS sleeps in a wearable blanket and this keeps his legs from getting stuck between the bars. He grads everything so I would be worried he would grab it and be wrapped in it like other pps said.

  • I was going to make a set (2 pieces of cotton, no fluff in the middle) but after making a queen size quilt for LO i didn't have the energy to make the bumpers, we're not rolling yet but i'm not sure what we'll do when she does. for now she has 1 sleep sack. we may have to buy more.

  • We do. She has gotten stuck multiple times. My rational is we have the Angelcare monitor and we use it everytime she is in the crib.

  • Evie gets her legs stuck between the slats at least once a night. I don't think it bothers her since I often find her asleep this way, the little freak. So I'm not too worried about it.

  • We don't use them. With my older girls they either figured out how to get snagged in them or would use them as launch pads to escape their crib. I know a few cities and states have banned them check to see if they are even allowed where you live.

  • We use them. Brooke also bumps her head all.the.time! It's ridiculous. We have an angelcare monitor so if she were to stop breathing it would let us know, therefore I'm comfortable using them.

We have one too, and I love it, but what would that do, exactly, except alert you that the child isn't breathing.

Not to be horribly morbid, but it might be too late by that time.

All of the reviews I read on te angelcare monitor said that when they found their baby not breathing after the alarm went off, they were able to get them to breath again.

  • We use the breathable bumpers from BRU. They are great!
  • What is it about babies and the sides of the crib? It's like a magnetic force...they just cannot stay away. I do not use bumpers. I can forgive myself if I go in to see that my LO bumped his head or got his leg stuck but would never forgive myself if something happened because of a bumper in his crib that I chose to put there. Not worth it to me. But I know several people that use them and love them.
  • We use wonder bumpers they basically just cover the slats so they can't whack them selves which sounds like what you need for your little guy. Lol at trying to break out, it does look like baby jail when they are in teir cribs.

  • Yes! Asked ped this week and she was surprised I wasn't using them already. They have to go at 9 months though bc they use it to step out.
  • I use mesh breathable bumpers. Tristan scoots all the way to the top of the crib and presses his face into them every night.
