Cupcake line ideas...

So at work we are creating a new cupcake line.  We are suppose to come up with new flavors, the wackier the better.

What would you think of my idea:

Red Hot Lover

It would be a red velvet cupcake with a spicy ganache filling, like Mexican hot chocolate.

Or

a raspberry chipotle cupcake:  a white cupcake with a raspberry preserve filling, raspberry chipotle mousse and fresh raspberries on top.

We do a variety cupcakes about 20 most are traditional flavor, but we like to have at least one kind in the case that is a little more interesting/unusual.

  • Those both sound really neat.  I think DH would love the Red Hot Lover (especially cool idea for Valentine's)!

  • I'm a red velvet fan, but the second one sounds really good too.  If I were to order either, I would probably go for the red velvet, though.  Red hots make me think of the candy red hots.  Maybe even sprinkle some crushed red hots on the frosting? Now I'm hungry for cupcakes.

  • Have you ever had a Middle Eastern desert called aish al-saraya?  It's delicious and I could see it made into a cupcake.

It's kind of like a bread pudding, soaked in rosewater, topped with custard and chopped pistachios.

It kind of tastes like a combination of baklava and cheesecake.

  • I recently tried a recipe for mountain dew cupcakes. The cake itself used lemons and limes and then you use a bit of mountain dew in the buttercream frosting. I don't drink soda so I loved the cake, but the frosting was a bit much. DH loves soda and loved it all.

  • As I'm eating a nice bowl of pomegranate, I thought, "how delicous would a pom cupcake be right now?!"  Pomegranate is kind of sexy, and it's most certainly delicious.

This was along the lines of what I was thinking. A red velvent cupcake with a cinnamon/red hot  filling/frosting.

  • The bakery doesn't happen to have a soft-serve ice cream machine, does it? Stick out tongue

In the odd chance it does (or you could convince your boss to get one), you would definitely need to do your own versions of shot-cakes ( https://www.shot-cakes.com/ ). Nothing beats a yummy cupcake injected with ice cream Smile
