We bought DS a new sled a few weeks back and while skiing we pull the sled behind us using a tie down. It works great on the flat but not when we go to North/South where the path winds up and down. Every time we went down hill last week I got jammed in the legs by the sled. Today we are building something like this to attach to the sled. We got all of the supplies yesterday including rock climbing rope and locking carabiners. Can't wait to try it out when we are done!
Re: Our weekend crafty project
Mac, I knew your question was honest!
Instead of the sled in the picture we got DS this sled below. We will just use the rig shown in the picture to attach the sled to a waist belt. I should post a picture tomorrow after we try it out with DS then it will be easier to see how it works. We also got some useful tips from a local store that specializes in backcountry things so we should be good to go!
Here is the sled we are using...
I am so lucky because DH loves to do things outdoors like I do and to top it off DS loves being outside too. It is just nice for us to get out during winter and get some fresh air. Here is a picture of our new set-up albeit in our living room without the skis! (Sorry image is so large) The rope we are using to attach to the carabiners is rated for 3000-5000 lbs so it isn't breaking!
