Grandma died this morning around 1:30am. Hospice arrived at 3:30am and pronounced her dead two hours after she actually died. The brownies I baked never made it to her. Sad.
My dad, my uncle and my aunt went to my grandmother's house to sort through more of her stuff. One of the neighbor's friends came by to ask what they were doing as they were stacking stuff on the curb for a pick up that they'd arranged with a local charity. They explained what happened and that they'd be selling her home. The woman acted interested in purchasing the house. She asked if she could tour the home. My dad allowed her in, and she spent some time looking in each of the rooms. She left some 20 minutes after she had arrived. My aunt didn't like the way this woman made her feel. She went to inspect the rooms after the woman left. Turns out she'd toured the house to unlock all the windows in the back of the house. Shady people. Mad.
We are at my mom and dad's house right now. My parents stopped for food before coming home. I was alone with the kids in their house as Jay is taking the GMAT today. I was in the bathroom, just started peeing, when I heard a loud shattering of glass. Otis got into one of my mom's kitchen cupboards and shattered one of her Pyrex baking dishes. I've never run out of the bathroom with my pants around my ankles before. Nobody was hurt. I think the noise scared both the boys away from the scene. I can't tell if this is more scary or more funny...
Re: Sad, mad, scared... Randoms
Re: Mad - I have a lot of words for people like that, but TB will only star them out.
Re: Scary - I think it qualifies as one of those moments when you could've cried and laughed at the same time and it would've made total sense.
// I love you too. //
I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandma. Maybe you can all enjoy a brownie in her honour tonight?
That skeety woman! Who has the nerve to do something like that??
I think I would have laughed after I knew the boys were okay. But one of the nervous laughters, like when someone gets hurt and you're worried, but you laugh instead. Oh, and picturing the looks on their faces when the dish broke - that would make me chuckle too.
What's with shady people wanting to rob people that are going through such pain as losing a family member? When my grandparents passed my dad and his brothers and sisters paid this big college kid to sit at their house during the funeral bc of this same reason.
Too funny about your pants and the dish!!
I'm so sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers to your family.
I can't believe how low some people will go.
And that is totally crazy about the shady lady. I wouldn't have thought to look at the window locks. Smart aunt.
And I'm glad your boys didn't get hurt from the glass!
I am so sorry your grandma didn't get to try your brownies. ::hugs::
And I am fuming for you about that shady lady. I just can't believe how low some people will go, taking (or trying to) advantage of a grieving family that way.
I'm glad no one was injured in the Pyrex incident. What a scary moment!
