dropping crib mattress

have you dropped your crib mattress yet?  how far did you drop it?

I went in to get DS this morning and he was standing in the corner of the crib.  We dropped the mattress 1 level a few weeks ago when he was starting to kneel more but debating if I should drop it another level now.

Re: dropping crib mattress

  • I dropped it to the second level when he sat up and then all the way to the bottom when he stood up.

  • We dropped it the other day when he pulled himself up to stand in it for the first time. Luckily I was in the room with him. It's still a little high for my comfort level, so we will move it all the way down very soon. He can't get to a seated position yet though, so the only way he can get to a standing position is by sitting first, which one of us would have to do for him. There's just not going to be any more sitting in the crib until we can get it moved down.

  • We dropped ours all the way down.  When he first started pulling himself up it was lowered 1 level then a couple days later DH found him standing up leaning over the crib and neither one of us was comfortable with that so it was then lowered to the lowest level.

  • we dropped it all the way down. little houdini kept pulling up and trying to escape. now he just pulls up but his head barely goes over the ledge and cruises around.... and lots of falling.

    My reply as well :-)

  • We dropped it when DS first started sitting.  We just put it all the way down so we wouldn't have to do it twice (not like it's that hard lol).
  • We haven't dropped it all the way down yet because I'm not sure I can reach her if we do. I'm really short. That said, she's good enough at standing up we could probably drop it and she would just have to stand up for me to be able to reach her.
