While we are on the topic of pumping....

...I have a question for all those pumpers with Medela pumps. How the fruck do you get the connector really clean? I am doing it with a bottle brush and a tooth pick but that gets old really fast. Is there a trick I am not aware of?

  • I used a Dr Brown scrubber that comes with the bottles to clean out the straw piece and rubber connector piece. But I do know you can buy them separate at BRU and TRU. It made it so much easier to clean, my SO's cousin told me that trick because I had been using the nipple scrubber on the end of my bottle scrubber and it was too big.

I will try and take a pic and post it

  • I also use the Dr Brown scrubber to clean out the rubber valves in Gator's sippy. It a handy little thing!

For size comparison: the bottle brush, the nipple scrubber from the bottle brush...that I was using in the beginning, and the Dr Brown scrubber.

  • I have something similar as Elsa. I bought it in a package with extra straws for Nora's straw sippies.

  • I also use a straw cleaner. You can pick them up with extended plastic handles to make them easier to hold. We use them to clean LBB's straws in his straw cup too. A pipe cleaner would also work if you have those handy.

  • Thanks ladies. Looks like there is no magic trick there, dammit.
